Was where.
Alan
On the GTR1000, across a field, at a bike rally.
I didn't see the 1' wide 1' deep trench until I rode into it at a 45 degree angle.
After that I decided to park the bike on the hardstanding.
Got to watch several others do the same thing until the rally organisers, at several peoples insistence, taped off the trench.
Other than that I once followed a snow plough into it's depot as couldn't go anywhere else due to 3'+ deep snow.
They were very helpful. Helped me get off the bike (trousers had frozen) and stood me in front of a radiator and fed me tea to warm me up.
When the next plough headed out to Munich about an hour later I followed and the bike nearly made it to the office.
After that I said "sod this" and stayed at a friends until the snow melted.

Ok, my wife says I have to come clean. I didn't really take the GTR on a beach, that would be really daft! :whistling:
Its a careful bit of photoshopping! I'm sure most of you realised that anyhow, apart from 100milesaway, he's 64 ya know.
:mfr_lol:
You mean you carefully removed your tracks and footprints! Now I get it.

thats a very good bit of photoshopping ,fooled me the shadows look realistic, i think the pic is real !
if you are good with the photoshop would you have made a more outrageous situation, a beach seems a bit tame.

Viper, I'm still learning how to use Photoshop. The shadow looks real because it is real, I lifted that off the original photo as well. :mfr_lol:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it :ninja:
Photoshop a GTR in the new zzr1400 green and black colours, would love to see how it looks :ohplease:
I'll have a go, remember I am new to photoshop.
'Where's the daftest place you've taken the GTR?'..... North Wales!!!!! :hammer:
There was that time when I was following my sat nav and the stupid thing though the GTR could go up a 70 degree mud track. It was a right pain to turn it around as well

seriously...you believed your sat-nav... my garmin is without question a bloody menace!!!........ Look a French Goat track, Mogs would love to go there 'in 200 meters turn right'........ ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!! :gun_bandana:
The worst my sat nav ever did to me was on the way from Zeebrugge to a job interview in Luxemburg.
I suddenly found myself in the middle of Brussels and ended up being 2 hours late.
Needless to say that I didn't get the job. :embarrassed:
If you trust your SatNav completely you deserve everything you get. :mfr_lol:
I trust mine about as far as I can spit it.
On a long trip I always plan the route in my head beforehand.
The SatNav is mostly useful in the towns or the last few miles of a journey.
I've followed people who spent more time watching their SatNav than the road ahead.
I've watched people try to go up muddy dirt tracks because their SatNav said so.
No more! On the bike I carry paper maps of the area I'm going to.
If something takes me off the planned route I rely on road signs and a sense of direction.
If I am still stuck, then out comes the phone and Google Maps.
Sat Nav's are the best invention since sliced bread.
I don't need to watch mine, its easy to listen to it as I'm riding.
George makes a good point though, as I agree that anyone travelling should first research their route on a map, in order to gain some perception of where their destination is.
If you set a Sat Nav incorrectly it may well advise you to use roads/lanes that aren't appropriate, mine has never taken me down a 'farm track' that I didn't want to be on
I love my Sat Nav too ... but ALWAYS have a big map book with me when I am away ... just in case, and it's good to get that "overall picture" ... you know what I mean.
