its the same old story, been involved in many meets over the years and trips abroad and people are all keen and then just always drop out at the last minute with " family commitments" . We just dont arrange group stuff anymore, but will always say see you there kinda thing . its just life
2kwacks, I'm off Tuesday to Thursday next week, if you aren't working and the weather is fine lets go. Tuesday though I'm already spoken for,
can make this sunday the 26th or either next saturday or sunday the 3rd or 4th  my rest is monday the 27th but I've allready made plans which will take up most of the day.
My Daughter and her partner are visiting the Lakes this weekend so its a 'no go' for me I'm afraid.
I'm commited to another ride out on the next weekend (March 4th)
Why have a 'Northern' meet deep in the South?
What about the Green Wally and then a short blast up to Glen Coe?
Sounds probably as ridiculous to you as Wales sounds to me.
It would take me most of the day just to get there.

meckie this is not a pre-organised meet of everyone one in the north. it's just a local ride out for thoses with-in a reasonable distance of the said place! I understand northwales is to far for you to ride for one day. think the the idea was that we all could arrange local groups with-in a few hours ride of any said location, like the kirby lonsdale meet recently  maybe once or a twice in the year a long weekend could be arrange to cover a wider area. ie" the cotswolds meet in june" for example, I live in the northwest so I'm happy to ride approx 2 hours to talk some "bollocks" and have a brew and ride around  it's not a case of not including the longer distance members, it's up to the individual to arrange some thing with-in a manageable distance for those you can or want a days ride out

feel free to start a thread suggesting your ride out plans , just as 2 kwacks has , Glen coe is a great area and im sure plenty will take you up on the offer.
looking at the members map, wrexham area stands a reasonable chance of attracting a few local members.
Glencoe, 300 miles from my place, I'd be up for that.
Glencoe, 452 miles from my place, forget that.

I'm sorry to tell you :innocent: - you have to be strong now :help: - but - how do I put this? :sweatdrop: I don't think people from around where you live are considered by most other people as being part of the North.

I did it in 2009 , the first time it was available in the uk, raised £30k for the poppy appeal and had a fantastic bike experience. Its very well organised and you are with about 200 other riders.
I highly recomend it
its on again in June , going from squires, not too late to apply
b]I've seen the reports and associated video evidence from Keith or Kevin (I think) on another forum, and it is amazing to see the distances covered
My Butt aint iron enough tho' [/b]

That's the one Asif......and excellent it is too
I think it's Kevins wife who compiles the 'wordage'... which makes for great reading
I know where John o Groats is (been there, done that but didn't get the T-shirt) but where the f... is Squires? :help:
Is that a pub in Inverness by any chance?
Squires is a biker venue on the outskirts of Leeds near Sherburn in Elmet. It used to be called the milk bar I think about 50 or 60 years ago when it opened
Aye, makes great reading. One day I will do one myself.
Well, I dont know about anyone else but Thursday 1st March I'm off work and I'm looking at having a good run out somewhere on the bike, possibly even a quick trip up to Scotland, (west coast) and back for the day. Spot of lunch in a nice pub, take in some scenery and then a gentle ride back home.
Now thats what you could call a Northern meet!!
As long as it's not raining, me and the Mrs will be at the Ponderosa around 12-30 tomorrow to get a bite to eat. My mate and his Mrs will also be there on his Pan that he bought today.

bills need to be paid, so must work thursday  "must remember to cut the wifes credit card up" pending weather and a "supposedly" quick job I need to do, may take a run up to the ponderosa tomorrow "sunday the 26th" let me know if you can make it! failing that, off next saturday 3rd and sunday 4th may be we can sought a group meet again for either the "3rd or 4th"
if temps are ok we might get up to the ponder , to ponder
I'm working Sunday 26th and then I'm back at work on the 2nd March till 4th March on nights. We dont get that many weekends off.
Is there an easter egg run up north,??? maybe could meet up, ( but not the wirral one).
I go to two every year, 1x stoke on trent 24th March, 2 x Bottesford ( Nr Grantham) 1st April
Here's one....
done the wirral easter egg run a few times over the years. but only meet up spectate now, then go for a ride out around northwales, seen quite a few mishaps due to so many bikers being so close together at one time. also seen quite a few breakdowns due to the crawling speed causing bikes to overheat.
We went to the Ponderosa yesterday. It was warm enough, specially after steak pie and chips.
2 kwaks you are spot on, you also get a banging headache because of the fumes, i too saw several scrapes with touching bikes etc, not worth the hassle.
Squires sounds very good, a decent run out the pace should be quicker than 20mph at least.
We have done a local Easter egg run for a few years now from Manchester Harley to Francis House children's hospice in Didsbury then onto the Together Trust at Cheadle Stockport. Not too crowded and well organised. No doubt we will be there again this year. Not seen it advertised yet but it is usually pos :smiley:ted on the net as Roughley's egg run.
