save's the gtr from being :shit: ed up  dam good idea if you ask me!
Good effort ... as you say, saves the GTR getting messed up and that looks like you could have some real fun in any weather
Yep good bike, and just what is needed to get you out and about in winter and save the GTR for BEST. This is my 1st winter without 2 bikes and I have hated it.
What is it? :ohplease:
A Yamaha ...summat or other...iits not an XJ is it
Me think it's a Yamaha MT 03 :smartass:
Yeap tis an Mt 03...& that's exactly what its for...the dirty old winter roads & back lanes. A Hack basically , but lots of fun. Just miss a fairing....lol
Like it
When my commute comes down to a sensible distance I might go for a winter 'hacker' but 70 miles of motorway? GTR everytime
I reckon it's a bit pricey for a winter bike.
But I wouldn't mind one of those or even better a XT or Honda XR if I could afford one.
I just love those big thumpers. :biker3:
My winter hack is "Otto" my old GTR1000.
Big fairing, home applied matt black paint, heated grips, and if you stuff one of the belly pan scoops on each side with some foam, heated feet too.

And yes, those are Nissin 4 pot calipers (from a 2001 Fireblade).
My first ride on the 1000 after riding the 1400 for 3 months was TERRIFYING.
I had never realised just how :shit: :shit: :shit: the OEM single piston calipers were.
Were you a fan of the A-Team by any chance? :mfr_lol:
Bad Brakes George......Bloody Hell you should try a 70s classic, I find that I need to plan about 500 yards ahead :mfr_lol:

Nah, all those bullets and not once did anyone ever get killed or even scratched. :gun_bandana: :2guns: :gunsmilie: :tank:
Now McGuyver, there was a true bodgeitandlegit mechanic.
Coney, yer a better man than me if you can dial your head into the 1400s awesome brakes and then redial into those pathetic excuses for brakes on most 70s bikes.

I must admit George that it is a challenge and I really do have to be careful..I find the 70s brakes work best when both front and rear are applied at the same time...strangely the rear disc is definitely better than a front disc on nearly every 70s Kawasaki I have ridden.
Failing that a strong grip on the right hand and both feet planted firmly on the floor helps :mfr_lol:[/b]

:mfr_lol: i can just envisage the smoke from the shoes and look of terror :surrender:
:agree: absolutely right Steve........great fun though
