Title: Facebook group Part Deux
Post by: Kwikasfuki on February 16, 2012, 05:20:36 PM
I set up a Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/groups/155377527810650/) yonks ago. For some reason this has been migrated to some new format and lost all members.

Feel free to join! We might even get some 64 yr olds joining

You might want to join. There's a lot of hot girls seeking older men on Facebook (well, according to the adverts on the right hand side)  :punk:

I dont like it and dont use - I do have an account and occasionaly get messages.

The guys here at work say ' fb is for the friends you used to know and twitter is for the friends you want to know "

So, it seems I wont be using either in the future.....

Understood Andy...but I don't need to socially network with folk who "want to be my friends" even though I never have and never will meet them....Neither, frankly do I want to re-aquaint myself with some of the tossers that I waved a finger or two at as I walked out of the school gates all those years ago  :mfr_lol:

I did register a number of years ag, but don't use it anymore

Joined - but olde.....

Because I now live in Cambridge, I don't really get to see friends and family down in Portsmouth so it enables me to keep in touch allowing me more precious time either on or loving my GTR and other bkes.  See there is a reason for face book.  :-)

Fair point Neil.. :agree:

My daughters who live in Huddersfield are regularly in contact with me via phone or e-mail and its a joy when we meet (frequently).

I still don't like Facebook though...sorry.., to me it potentially encourages its members to expose a bit too much about their personal details  :mfr_lol:

And its no way near as secure as you might like to think. Whether you accept someone as a friend or not there is a way,  :ninja:  style  to bypass that security option and still gain full access to anyone and everyones profile and all that that might include.

I am there, but not in any shape or form that you could find me ... it's good to keep up to date with what my boys doing at Uni ( spying I suppose you might call it ! ) and of course abusing people at work ... I have no personal details on there, even my DOB is way out and only a very small select group of friends .... anyone I don't know simply gets "refused" !!

i've got a facebook account  don't see any problems at all, I only put pictures and messages on there I want to share with friends, so I don't add anything that I don't want anyone to see. only friends you "except" can see your pics and any correspondence with your profile. even if it's true "none friends" can hack in, so what! i'm sure they will soon get bored to death looking at my holiday pics and the  :shit: I sometimes come out with  anyway, find it very usefull to keep in touch with friends and family. now and again I get the odd request from people to join my friends list. if I don't like or know the "bastard" or "bastess" I email them the  :nono: and tell them to sod off  but any gtr or zzr owners are more than welcome  Ho! forgot to mention, kh classic owners are very welcome

The most common thing I see on Facebook is people portraying a false persona. Once you get over that, its a great way to keep in touch with distant family and acquaintances. Friends and close family are only a call away

So what, my parents are on Facebook and they are 70.
Mum posts more than I do.

It's one of those take it or leave it type sites.
I check it about once per week if I can be bothered.
Kinda nice to hook up with old friends but then ya also get those people you would rather avoid.
I have a few pics on there but I use it mostly for family and distant friends (of which I have quite a few).

You can easily block those. My ex-brother-in-law obviously had nothing better to do than posting garbage all day.
Needless to say that his posts don't waste my bandwidth anymore.
