Maybe its just me.....but why the hell are we even entertaining any communication from the Argies on the subject of the Falklands
I thought that the soveriegnity of that British outpost was confirmed in the foray that took place back in 1982
I now hear that Argentine is complaining because they "think" that Britain "may" have sent a nuclear submarine to watch over our territory
I reckon we should tell them to "piss off" and manage their inflation rate ~ that's political vernacular you know.
Its about time that the U.K wasn't seen as a soft touch....bring it on...grrrrrr :gun_bandana: :gunsmilie:
Okay ...I'm off my soap box now
May be its because we aint got a Navy any more to do a repeat of 82

Yeah for sure, if the Argies invaded the Falklands we'd be fooked, seeing as how the most of the navel fleet bimbles about on one engine cos we can't afford the fuel to run both, and didn't one of the Warships go on patrol in the gulf with only 2 missles.
Tis fookin pathetic :nono:
It is typical South American hype isn't it ? Coming up to the 30 yr anniversary of a good spanking by those who know best and they start bleating about our future King going down there as part of his military career, which by the way is search and rescue .... they just can't face the facts. The Malvinas belong to the UK, with blood spilled from some of the greatest Regiments in the British Army and that is the way it's going to be for a long long time

Lets hope then that they dont read this thread otherwise it could give them some serious ideas!! :tank:
The Argentinians seem to have forgotten two very important facts:
1. the inhabitants want to remain as part of Britain which grants them the right of protection
2. Britain has been a protectorate long since Argentina existed
Seems like a land grab by Argentina for me based on some dubious geographical/historical reasons. They don't want to recognise the rights of the people living there or let them determine their own future.
The Falkland Islanders have the right of self determination. And they've chosen the protectorate of Britain. Its called democracy. If the Argentinians don't like it - tough.
And lets not forget the mineral deposits :tank:
Kwikas is spot on! Big Twitter campaign by the Falkland Islanders to ensure they remain British.
Oh and worry not about our ability to protect them, war has changed a lot in 30 years. There are fighter aircraft within 30 minutes from the islands , and we're talking Typhoons and Tornados not Vulcans and Harriers now.
UN won't go against self determination of the indigenous populous, so if Agrentina tried to invade it would be seen by the UNSC as a hostile act.

I agree that some of the U.Ks surface vessels are a bit long in the tooth, but still more advanced than some countries converted tugs and our air force is second to none
BUT it's what lurks under the surface that they should be very....very worried about (cue Jaws theme), perhaps that's why they are whinging now

Argentina hardly has an army as they're in constant fear of a military dictatorship. The girl guides could probably beat the Argentinian army.
Ah but you all forgetting one thing.. OGL ..Dave aka 'the village idiot' can't actually afford to start another war, not enough change down the back of the sofa. :hammer:
Not a problem.
Our mates over the pond will always support us in one of our wars.............
The American positin, as reported by the Beeb
Earlier that day,, Hilary Clinton had declared that America's position was "that this is a matter to be resolved between the United Kingdom and Argentina", and offered her aid in "facilitating such an effort", but fell short of offering the UK any support should the Argentinians attempt a repeat of the 1982 invasion of the islands.
Well the Yanks have already got an 'A' in their collection. That's why they are leaving Iran alone - already got the 'I'
Last time they went for a big number letter - V - they got it wrong!
