What about a decent hugger, I cant see any links for them. Anybody got one and can recommend a particular brand?

Huggers ???
Try putting " Mudsling " into Google ... i am pretty sure that's the name... I know they do very sturdy and decent huggers for BMW R1200's and would imagine any make would be catered for... give it a go !

Looks like mudsling are for BMW only. I'd go for a carbon hugger.

I did give my bike its six month clean on Sunday and was grateful for the hugger. Little dirt and no rust

Gotta admit, I like the standard exhaust. If you ever decide to sell it let me know, could be interested if its pretty cheap  ;D

What exhaust have you currently got?
I've pit a remus on mine. The soul of the bike is back

Post by: Lonewolf on August 24, 2010, 02:55:22 PM
Ive still got the original exhaust on the bike, but it never hurts to have a spare just in case you drop the bike as they are like rockin horse poo to find second hand .

So I've seen the Leo Vance and BeoWulf on eBay. There's also the Two Bros and Remus on my short list.

Does anyone have a view as to which is the easiest to install? I'm not interested in getting a power commander to put on and a remapping done which I understand the Two Bros requires.

The Beowulf exhausts are guaranteed to fit without any hassle. They are based in Halifax not a million miles from where I work.
However I once bought a radiator cover for a bike from them and it wasn't even close to fitting. I took the bike in and they were quite suprised when it was way too big. As a gesture of goodwill they used my bike to measure one up and then gave me a new cover for free. They are very helpful, give them a ring I'm sure they will sort you something out.

I have the Remus Hexacone and that is a doddle to fit as well. It gives a nice, deep, throaty sound. At some point I intend to remove the bafler.

Added MRA Vario screen.

Tempted to buy it myself. As much as I love the Ultra Tour, what I don't like is

1. It removes downwards pressure from the front wheel when raised
2. Annoys my vision when filtering so I always have to lower it

can any one recommend a tank bag system for the 2010  there are clips for a tank bag to connect to allready on the tank, and I understand you buy a bracket for the petrol cap as a extra fastener! have tried the bagster tank cover but it was a really bad fit, so just checking what else is available, so if you have a tank bag fitted and are happy with the system please spill the beans and send some links so I can check them out!

Post by: Andy on March 28, 2011, 03:32:35 PM
I found screen on my new 2010 model a bit short even at running in speeds. I've received screen but not fitted yet. What tools do I need?

Incidentally I've also got a Beowolf radiator guard. Only held on by one bolt at top and doesn't look a 100% fit / secure at bottom. Not fallen of though :-)
Title: Re: Aftermarket accessory list
Post by: Kwikasfuki on March 28, 2011, 03:57:45 PM
I think its a 4 and a 5 mm hex.

Use the 4 mm to remove the four bolts.
Remove the plastic coverings
Remove the two bolts with the 5 mm hex

Refitting is reverse
Title: Re: Aftermarket accessory list
Post by: Lonewolf on March 28, 2011, 05:08:17 PM
Just to expand on the above, when you are refitting the plastic covers on your screen, do not over tighten the four bolts otherwise you will get tiny cracks in the covers, I know this because I did it unfortunately. The covers are only made of plastic and are quite weak.

Good point LW. The same applies to the two 5mm bolts in which case you might crack your screen

Hi Blackflash, I have fitted "Genmar bar risers" to my A9f. They come in two sizes: K-405 which give a rise of 38mm. & come back 22mm. and K405-B which give a rise of 51mm.& come back 32mm. They cost £94.99p so are not cheap. On the plus side, they fit well and look good and also improve rider comfort. The only mod I had to make was to drill and tap a 6mm. hole in one of the risers (the other one was already drilled and tapped). these are to clamp the brake and clutch hydraulic lines. Go on E-bay & type kawasaki gtr 1400 and they are on the last page, or look under sportouring.  Regards  Glenn.

Fitted KB107 bar risers from MurphsKit this morning, only sat on the bike so far, but the riding position feels more comfortable already.

The give 1 3/8" rise & 3/4" backwards movement.

I'll report back after a ride this morning.

Only 50 odd miles, but enough to feel the difference:

More relaxed riding position (for me) and an even better view in the mirrors.

So I think I've found the optimum riding position & add-ons for my shape/size - 5'10" with 31" inside leg:

Calsci large screen, KB risers & grip puppies

I'm going to have a go at fitting a pair of these (http://www.webbikeworld.com/lights/motorcycle-led-driving-lights/) today assuming putting the Hexacones on the FJR doesn't take too long. In fact I ought to be doing that now not sitting here but any excuse not to be working on the bikes. I was going to take them to a dealer for fitting until Lyn reminded me that dealers never seem to run the wiring as neatly as I'd like (neither do I but at least I haven't paid for what I do!).

Did you source them from a uk dealer? I wouldn't mind a pair on my bike.

No, I bought them direct from the manufacturer (what accessory exists that you wouldn't like on your bike?!  ;) ).

I've just watched the You Tube clip on them, excellent product. Where are you mounting them on the GTR?
Title: Re: Aftermarket accessory list
Post by: Kevin on September 25, 2011, 12:33:01 AM
They fit in place of the Allen bolts that hold on the front of the mudguard. Getting on the nut at the back is a complete nightmare and it's still not tight enough but that's probably a good thing for the moment as it will allow me to adjust the angle of the lights as required.

They're quite bright, but not too bright at their lowest setting which is where I shall leave them for now on dip. I can't wire in the 'go to 100%when I put main beam on' because I don't know where it needs to be wired unfortunately. Hopefully I'll be able to resolve that on Monday. I'm quite pleased with them :).

I have a set to put on the FJR as well but that'll have to wait.

Here's what they look like once fitted.

I had an email in from Clearwater (the manufacturer) over the weekend and I'm expecting the wiring instructions for the gen. 2 GTR later today.

Hmm, pretty damn good. How about the immediate wiring from them, is that relatively easy to keep tidy and discreet? That would be a bug bear of mine, I hate untidy cluttered wiring.
Title: Re: Aftermarket accessory list
Post by: Kevin on September 26, 2011, 11:12:43 AM
Me too. There's just one set of wires, encased in black plastic, running up from each light to the upper fairing. Hang on and I'll go and grab another photo' for you...[wanders out to garage with camera in hand].

I took a couple which are attached (yes I know it needs a clean!).

I am never happy with aftermarket wiring as it always looks a mess :(. I don't think I made too bad a job of running these in but please don't ask to look at the mass/mess of wiring next to the pocket on the LH side of the fairing where the wires from these meet the two sets of SatNav wiring :(. I'm sure it would be a lot neater if I cut the wiring to length but I'm loathe to do that as these are not cheap and it's my intent to move them on to the next bike.

Hmm, all those cables would get in the way of the washing and polishing the bike. Now if they did a set of rechargable light units that would be a good alternative.

That wouldn't work because they'd always be flat whenever I wanted to use them. What we actually need is wireless electricity.

Kevin, that's a pretty good install. I will be getting a set of those, but for my next GTR.

If you want to see a mess, ypu should you a pic of my front  hyperlites install -  a total mess. Just can't be bothered to rewire it at the moment.

Cannot see any reference to handlebar extenders. I have seen the Genmar K405 advertised on e-bay and would be very interested to get some feedback from anyone who has fitted them or information about alternatives. I have been given conflicting information that suggests that the top yoke is not sufficiently rigid to take these risers and have been informed I should consider a top yoke conversion. Any info would be gratefully received.

Yes the link is the correct ones for the mirrors... Just buy the carbon wrap separate. :) They fit using a bracket that clamps them to your existing mirrors.. Remove the glass by the small screw on the back, clamp to existing and re-fit glass to cover the clamp :)

You might want to post the in the market forum.

I do like the mirrors with the bonus that they act as deflectors in the winter.

As for the Corbin seat, how do you find that? Both Roger and myself have tried it, and whilst it was ok, my butt and the seat never agreed.

That looks excellent!  Some very interesting stuff on your bike!

What's that small dial just left of the left headlamp height adjuster knob?  It's probably a clock, but I just wanted to make sure it's not a supercharger boost meter or something....  I can't quite make it out :)

Rosbif... yes it is a clock.. Its a Oxford waterproof clock.. When I bought the bike 2nd hand there was a hole in the position, so to cover the hole I put the clock there.. Bonus also is that I dont wear a watch and I dont always want to keep switching the ignition on to see the clock on the dash.

Alan.. I like the throttlemeister although it would never beat an electronic one.. I did price up the options and this was in my budget :)
Yes the Engine/Faring Bars are pricey.. £400 + £100 import and tax duty...  :censored:

Lonewolf.. I have this one.. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_784513_langId_-1_categoryId_265865
Its mounted in a waterproof sat nav case and mounts on to one of the ball rams

Gonone... Its all to do with patients... its not easy because of the curve of the mirror case, but if you take ur time and use a hair drying on a slow blow setting it will go on... Maybe your fingers are to big to do fiddly things..  :mfr_lol:

Ok here it is....aren't I a clever lad

I hope Martin doesn't mind me copying this and posting on here...if anyone uses it then I suggest a 'beer token' or two is sent to Martin   :mfr_lol:

Now, I do recall Martin saying that the 'lower' section of the rear fender extender could have done with being a bit wider.   :agree:

ProjektD do huggers as well... Both polycarb and Carbon Fibre. I got the carbon fibre unit and it's so easy to fit (15 minutes), and it does the job sooooo well. Much cleaner around the rear shock & regulator in particular

There is a chap in Yorkshire that sells crash bungs or mushrooms for the gtr

Its jaybeebikerbits

Someone else on the forum posted some pics

I ordered some and they came 3 days later.
I haven't fitted them as yet as away but they replace the engine bolt you can see through the gills on the fairing so no cutting etc
Simply plug and play

The second link Andy is for the concours C10, they have cocked up on the post. Not relevant to the 1400 GTR.

I bought my screen off HPS the maxi in smoked looks great, downside the laminar lip mount broke flat out in top gear, lets say it was a buttock clenching moment, HPS were brilliant sent me a replacement no bother, tried it again, no problems, so probably a faulty mount
