excellent love the 500  the 400 is also  but prefer it with the standard pipes. had the kh250 and the kh400 in the seventies, also had the yamaha cs3 200, rd250, rd400 and the rd350b. but in the late eighties decided to turn "modern for the time" of course wish I would have kept them now, don't know why I never kept them really they all had good bodies and never let me down and where in good shape for there age  so :undecided: to why I got rid. because normally I keep what I'm fond off, had the wife 32 years now

KZ1300 Voyager was nicer.

Old bikes are cool. They don't handle or perform or stop like new ones but still have a charm all their own.

called into d&k at stoke today to have a nose around they also had the new model 2012 zzr1400 there  so had a good look around the bugger.  :undecided: on it really, there's not much difference cosmetically infact very little. at first did not even noticed it was the 2012 model  only for the exhausts at first clance I would walk past thinking it was the previous model. suppose the changes are more mechanical such as the traction control, revised swinging arm, mode switch on left handle bar same as the gtr! black coloured clocks and 40 more ponies, which I don't think the bike needed anyway :nono: if all kawasaki have to promote the new 2012 zzr1400 is the extra 40 ponies and traction control I think there going to have problems selling them while there's so many of the previous model still in stock in the dealers showroom at the normal discounted price due to the new model! mind you, suppose it not easy to improve on excellence even for the kawasaki boffins, so  to kawasaki for making the predecessor so dam good in the first place  anyway, on slightly a different matter. our friend "olde coney" would have been very sad to see 2 kh 500,s and 2 kh400,s in a very sorry state indeed, don't know where d&k got theses "basket jobs" from but they where shot to :death: don't even think they would even be any good for spares. all 4 must have been left out side in all weathers for at least 25 years, everythink was seized solid and what was not seized was corroded right through

how about theses 2 late eighty beauts. both the honda cbr1000f and the kawasaki zx10 belong to friends, and the zx10r which is a 1989 b2 model can still cut it with the best of them  had no problem whats so ever keeping up with my gtr or my mates hayabusa on our recent cornwall "jolly boys outing" venture.

Yep, I've already seen pictures of 'em...there's sometimes rare parts within such bikes tho' , you can't always dismiss them immediately

BTW.... I very nearly bought a CBR 1000 back in 1993, but settled on an Ebony and Firecracker ZZR 1100 instead which was lovely and I always liked the  ZX10 and GPZ 1000RX.. (better brakes )

I think DK get their old stock from the states. If you look round the back there are lots of shipping containers delivered full of bikes ranging from sorry rotten mouldy pieces of scrap to complete bikes in need of a clean. What they dont sell they break for spares I guess. There are some sorry sights in their showroom, but also some glorious old machines.

Love the looks of the triple strokers, remind me of the 70s when I first got into biking. For me the best looking bike ever made was the early white and green 250 triple with the pointed rear tail. However despite having an RD400 for a short time, I just couldn't live with 2 strokes. It's not them, it's me honest. Anyone got a cheap CB360/250J or CB350/250 K3 or K4 for sale? I would love one.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Would that be Honda's attempt at re-inventing the wheel,  Oval Cylinders...it never really became popular....could have been summat to do with the price too

I used to have this in my collection, until quite recently,      but was made to feel embarrased by 'friends' in the Triples fraternity  :mfr_lol:...it actually had only 1.8 miles on the clock, from being pushed around the factory

Z400 is cute but not £85-£100k desirable,

I am very very slowly restoring a CB 500T, which is similar to the Z

OMG!!  The NR.  I absolutely love that machine.

I believe that one was at Devils Bridge a couple of years ago.

I was gobsmacked to see one on the road.

I remember the rider had that shitty Caberg lid!

The KZ 400 was purchased by me from Rick Brett about 3 years ago, and was one of, I think' 4 KZs that Rick imported from the States, the bike was never imported by Kawasaki into the U.K

I took it to a couple of shows and it impressed wherever it went, it was absolutely perfect because it was a true N.O.S (New Old Stock) bike it even had the original plastic covers over the instruments, and was actually featured in the VJMC 'Tansha' magazine

I could never, nor would I hope, anyone else put the bike on the road, which is a sad thing to say I know, it was truly a collectors bike, but alas, I like to ride my classics (it also had one too little cylinders and two too many strokes  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:)  and so I sold the KZ to a guy in Dunfirmline, who almost immediately stuck it on fleabay and tried to make a profit, what a prat

I don't know whats happened to it now.

Here's the evidence....amazing eh ?

BTW only a 70s bike builder could put vivid green and orange pin stripes on a copper coloured paintset  :mfr_lol:

I recall seeing an NR in Charles Hirst's showroom in Belfast, they had it kinda tucked away to one side, and I just didn't understand why it wasn't in a more prominent position

The NR is an absolute modern day Classic

I cant see how you could justify spending that much on a bike.
