Title: And so the deed was done :(
Post by: Kevin on January 29, 2012, 06:35:26 PM
We dropped our GTR off at the dealer this afternoon for them to put in their showroom on a sale-or-return basis. We were both rather sad to see it go and I don't think either of us is entirely convinced about our decision but it's done now. This year will see our first non-GTR Iron Butt rallies.

<g>. When I sold our first FJR I let all sorts of things go with it, including a personalised number plate, as we weren't going to buy another one. We're now on our fourth.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see us back on a GTR at some point but we need to use the FJR for at least the next year to justify the not inconsiderable amount of money we, er, I have spent getting it farkled and rally-ready.

I have every intention of sticking around as I like this forum and the people on it (and it gives me an opportunity to bore you some more with our ride write-ups!). UKBusas is a similar type of forum and a fair few of the inmates no longer have Busas. I suspect we'll end up joining that minority as Lyn prefers our other bikes and time pressures will prevent me from racing it but I'll stay on the forum. I think good forums grow beyond their one-marque origins and become a community.

That's one of the reasons my next bike will again be a GTR. I've just invested too much time (and money, but don't tell the wife), and its suits my needs perfectly. Although my mate is always pushing me to get a ST1300, hell will probably freeze over before that happens. So I can see why you want to get the value out of the FJR.
