Title: New gear makes me a happy bunny
Post by: GTRPete on January 23, 2012, 09:33:23 PM
Seen an advert on Hein Gericke website saying they will pay the Vat on selrctrd items purchased before the end of the month.  I couldn't resist and bought a fab goretex winter textile jacket and textile trousers and a goretex leather jacket from the shop in Bristol. I am pretty chuffed with the textile gear as it was really warm as i rode to newbury from bristol this morning and has some cool innovations to stop wind blast up your arms and a few other things.  Never had textile trousers before but boy are they good.  Any way here's a piccie of the boss man at HG in bristol looking rather pleased with his sales prowess (if the upload works)

hein gericke are really pushing for sales, they have just increased their discount to 30% on own brand gear, will be popping in over the weekend!

I went to my local Hein Gericke last week in Darlington and was   shocked at how little stock they had in.                        I do hope things are alright with them.       I hope another George White moment is not just around the corner. :help:

i wouldnt be surprised if hein gericke did fall, their 30% offer after a 20% offer smacks at a company with problems. surely you would use your best discount strategy of 30% in January rather than visa versa.

would be a huge loss to the biking world, their gear is brilliant, apart from our helmets , weve got everything from them

get in and fill your boots( panniers )

I've lost a bit of confidence recently with Hein Gericke especially with my local Bradford & Leeds branches. Twice recently I've had to contact HG head office at Harrogate to get them to resolve matters.

I used to buy from HG Bradford in the early 90s when my mate was the manager.. We use the Preston branch now and they are extremely helpful

I hope things don't go pear shaped with HG I like their gear

Mind you Halvarssons is apparently good... I think Winston Smith is a fan of theirs

I've recently discovered the beauty of RUKKA products thanks to Rusty, my nearest Rukka stockist is Infinity Motorcycles at York so I intend to give them my business in future.

I have  Hein Gerike shop approx one mile from me here in Oxford, gets a regular visit from a few of us to see whats there, needless to say i have everythimng apart from boots Hein Gerike products, we know the "man in the shop" and always cheek him for discount, always friendly and know there stuff, if they dont have what you want then they get it.

A pleasant experiance all round.

whilst on the subject of clothing SWMBO needs some Draggin or simular biker jeans

Maybe HG would be a good place to check for prices

The best Draggin jeans I have seen are about £220 and are fully lined with Kevlar rather than just at strategic points. Having seen that TV program last night though, The Real A & E where a biker went for a wee ride in his jeans rather than putting on his leathers and then came off at 50mph & seriously damaged his left leg I have my reservations as to how effective they would be in the real world.

mmmm, I do worry about the 'biker' jeans even though they are kevlar lined, I have some Draggin jeans, partially lined, and they are very comfy,

BUT, I wouldn't want to put them to the test as its well known that Denim wouldn't slide as well as leather or specific textile garments..the jury is out  :-\

Yeah I bought soem draggin jeans two years ago for a euro tour, thought it would save taking an 'evening' pair of strides. As it was i never really felt 'comfortable' riding in them - so now they are just a bllody expensive pair of jeans, and not even fashionable!! As for testing ... I'd rahter not put my leathers or textiles through a real test.....

I would love to buy a pair of Draggin Jeans and some soft boots .. you know the ones .. like F1 driving boots ... for the summer months .. if you could promise me I will never come a gutzer ... oh it would be so much cooler and lighter but I just cannot get away from the fact that no matter what people say and what videos you can watch made by Draggin they simply will not protect you like 3/5 mm leather ... they will ride up, they will tear, they may even come off, but they will not give you the same level of protection .... just imagine rubbing your leg along the tarmac.... get down on your knees  and have a real close look .. it's what I used to write in my reports on Traffic as " Hot rolled Tarmacadam with inlaid granite chippings "..... GRANITE chaps .. that's what you are up against .... at 30 let alone anything faster than that ... it will simply shred you to bits .... I like my legs and the way they move and I even get them out in the summer so I very much look forward to keeping them that way .......  8)

dead right too....if I'm not mistaken another problem with 'jean' type material is that it will 'grip' the road surface which results in the occupant rolling and subsequently breaking bones

It doesn't bear thinking about....I remember all to well falling of my scooter as a kid and the pain of gravel rash on my palms...aaaargh

Had an email today from Hein Gericke, it seems that now, you not only get 30% discount but until Monday of next week you also get £10 knocked off your purchase.

Just got me a HG 'Team' jacket - more for pub and casual use (not armoured but sheltex)

Retails at £90, on offer at £44, got it for £38 as a sign up for the HG club thingy

Happy Bunny although Missus response was "Great.  ANOTHER bike jacket..........."

I believe her favoured expression to "Yes dear, it's a helmet" followed by "Yes dear, it's a bike" then "Yes dear, there goes another helmet/bike" and finally - "Is that all you think about...."

We also have the occasional going into a quiet room to cry "I think I'm losing the will to live.........."

Yep - She's married a biker and boy does she know it!

I would have thought it's obvious that there in spot bother !
Bike sales down & dealers going under. That coupled with high unemployment.
May be they will close few shops down that aren't performing as well. Tis all good stuff though.
