Does anyone know of a way of moving or converting the rubber computer buttons to the handlebars. Just the top one would make a world of difference when on the move.
I take it this is on the older model of the GTR. Yes, there is a way and I've bought a display from eBay just to do that. It involves soldering a wire onto the rear of the display and mounting it to a button which then allows you to cycle the onboard computer.
That sounds about right, is it fairly easy to get it apart, its a 59 reg (black).
Windscreen off, take off the covering panel, three bolts to remove the display housing, remove back cover and solder on. I'll post pics when I do mine
Great, Thanks.
I was in bit of a rush last night, hence the quick instructions.
The mod is quite straight forward. Once you have removed the display, a wire is soldered onto the circuit board. This then connects to a button on the bike which is also earthed. I forget the type of button, but Maplin sell it.
If you mess this up, a new display will cost £700. That's why I've got a spare on off eBay just in case
I've ordered these switches (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230710784363&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:GB:1123) in preparation for the mod.
Just not sure on the best position to mount. What I'm thinking is to drill a hole next to the flash to pass button and mount it there, but not too keen on the idea.
Anyone got any other ideas on how to mount it?
To answer my own question, I think a mini ABS box will do the trick. I'll just stick it on one of the reservoirs.
Hope the weather is good this weekend to do the mod.
