since buying the 2010 gtr1400 approx 12 months ago, my 2008 zzr1400 as only done 812 miles. don't seem to have the time to enjoy both theses bikes to the full. do decided after much consideration to let the zzr1400 go :( that's providing, I can get what it's worth! most likely will regret this decision as with all of the bikes have sold over the years. if I do sell, may get a older second bike just to commute on :)
Problem is the ZZR's as we have seen recently on eBay even with low mileage have been offered for sale at ridiculously low prices. Unless you can accept that I'd keep it, you never know circumstances might change and you will regret it then
Hi 2kwacks,
Got a GTR and a ZZR myself (+others) and unless you need the money/space keep it. You know there is nothing like the buzz you get from opening the taps on the ZZR, the GTR does a good job but it aint no ZZR
Coman
if I don't get what I want for it, will be staying "very" put! can't see any plans for the zzr1400 in the foreseeable future, any touring I do will be on the gtr. I don't seem to venture out so much now at weekends to warrant keeping theses 2 particular bikes at the same time so will leave this in faith's hands. "if it sells it sells if it dosen't it dosen't" if some one dose not want to give me the price I want for it then I will be forced to keep it ;) either way I can't really loose :)
hi 2 kwacks.as you know i have been trying to sell my 2010 gtr for a while now, sold twice and both times fell through for different reasons, still only 2900 miles wrapped up in the garage.i will video it and try to advertise it again when the weather improves, the e bay route mainly attracted timewasters, and when people bid you dont know if they are genuine or not,i allways ask for genuine buyers to contact me then you can do your own deal with them (if you know what i mean!!) .i had the same bother selling both of my zzr 1400's,seems unless you are a dealer you can never get what your bike is truely worth,
advertising with mcn is probably the best choice but i wouldn't advise putting your email on the advert page as again that attracted quite a few scammers for me, good luck with whatever you decide to do,,cheers keith.
ps,when i look at photo's of bikes i have sold i always seem to wish i had never sold it,especially my green zzr,so dont sell it unless you get its worth.
"keith and coman! I take on what you have both said and agree with each of your indivdual inputs, but the plan was initially to just have the one bike, and the fact that I planned on doing mostly touring in the future the gtr1400 seemed to be the smart choice. like conman and most likely a fair few of us, I have had as many as 5 bikes at once :) but never had the problem of which one took preference on any a rideout. it was allways the zzr1400 that I would make a beeline for, the problem now is which one do I use :-\ all the time, because there both excellent machines. original I sold zx636, zx6r and the gsxr srad privately, then the plan was to trade the vn 1600 cruiser and the zzr 1400 in for the 2010 model gtr1400, but becuase I was trading 2 bikes in the trade in value for each bike was low, so just traded the cruiser in and would sell the zzr1400 at a later date privately. it's not a case of needing the money or room, I feel the zzr1400 as now run it's course :( but true! to be honest I don't think it will sell with the recession and all that, but I promised the wife I would be happy with just the one ride from the one love in the future ;D :) ;) if I don't get the price that I'm asking for the zzr1400 then it won't be going anywhere that's for sure. but if it dose sell and I receive the right price for it :) if I then regret selling it, I'm sure i've heard kawasaki have produced a 2012 model ;)
Mate ... it's a shame to sell any bike especially a ZZR ! i understand what you are all saying ... a difficult time to sell bikes, a few weeks after Christmas in a double dip recession. I can't imagine you would get a decent price for it now, but if you wait till the '12 model is out AND there is a touch of warmth in the air you will sell it ... simply because there are those who will always want the newest model and those who don't give a sh** about the age model but recognise a good deal when they see one ! Good luck old fruit.
Good time to buy though. I just picked up a yamaha Mt 03 with only 3000 mile on clock for £2295
Nicely done Zedman .. that is a good price. A buyers market indeed. :)

nice one ;) sure are some bargains out there, I'm :o to see what theses guys are selling there bikes for. can only assume they have hit hard time's and need the money. lucky enough for me! I don't need to sell my zzr. but if I'm honest it would be the wise thing to do, considering the use the bike as been getting over the last 12 months. don't seem to have the time to enjoy both bikes now. had loads of offers. but I think they have been from dealers or those wanting to buy and sell for a quick profit, or chancers trying to get a 08 model for the price of a 06 or 07 model with at least triple the mileage. but I'm afraid, if they want my zzr1400 they will need to pay what it is worth or set there sights much lower :) anyway good luck with your new family member.
Your own idea of try it to see if it will sell is the best thing you can do, if you dont need to sell for any paticular reason then hang onto it till the time is right.

I can honestly say! have never sold a bike I've not regretted selling. and if the zzr1400 dose sell I'm sure I will regret that as well, that's why I'm only selling if I can get what the bike is worth. that way if I do regret selling it, I won't need to add as much for the 2012 model :)
Or keep it till the 2012 model arrives, they will be wanting to shift bucket loads of them so hopefully the trade - in price will be favourable.
I wanted some thing a lot different to the gtr. More of a hack & something for all the muddy back roads around here.
I've not been looking at gtr prices. How much lower
are they.
I am still in love with the gtr. Just got to tidy garage to fit second bike in ...
Looking back on the bikes that I've sold in the last two years I could cry, some I sold because I needed the money, and some cos I didn't have time to ride them and one in particular that seemed to have shrunk underneath me.....it went to a collector in Portugal...god I wish I still had it
this one seen here at the 'Roon tha Toon' event in Northern Ireland 2010.... I'm the one standing alongside the bike ;D

And this one that had to go :(... I admit to actually sheding a tear when it was collected, it was a stunner....how sad am I ::)
I'm lucky as I've still got a couple left which are just as good :)
Ah yes the days of my youth, a mate of mine had a Bridgestone and I always thought it was a fantastic bit of kit, those things must be worth a fortune in that kind of condition, and you are a very lucky boy indeed to still have a couple more of them about your person. ENJOY. :)
Actually its a bit of a strange one... because as the Bridgestone is very rare no one really knows what they are really worth, especially the GTO (high pipe variety) .
I sold it because I didn't ride it and it had been seen at nearly all the classic shows...I still miss it as it's a lovely looking, very advanced bike for its 1969 vintage [/b]
out of all the bikes i've sold over the years, suppose the zx7r 2002 p6 and my zrx1200s 2003 are the one's I wished had kept. I sold my zrx1200s which was in excellent condition with 12,000 miles on the clock for £3,250 in 2008, i've seen theses selling now for between £3,000 with average mileage and £4,000 with low mileage, my zx7r only had 10,000 miles on when I traded it for the zzr1400 in 2008 and got £3,000 for it :) i've seen nice low mileage zx7r p6 models selling for £3,000 now :o and that's if you can find one :) Ain't it a wonderful thing? Ironsight ;)

Very nice bikes.... but you can't keep 'em all... that's me trying to convince myself that I did the right thing selling some of mine :(
BTW a close mate of mine NEVER sells any of the bikes he has bought over the years.....at the last count he has 35.....yes 35...all lovely bikes and some very rare ones amongst them ...
I hate him ;D ;D

I have a mate like yours he has some fantastic kit mostly Italian, but some jap stuff as well. Some that I remember off the top of my head, Benelli Tornado, MV f4, Guzzi le mans, 1100 sport, California, Laverda jota (a real special one) Honda cx turbo, Yamaha xj turbo, Kawasaki 750 turbo, BMW k1, and lots more, at the last count I think he counted 22 and he uses them all in rotation.

What's the insurance on that? ;) ;D ;D

Dont know, but I dont think it matters too much, as this bloke isn't short of a few quid. :)
I found the biggest problem keeping 5 bikes at once, never mind 35 of the buggers :) was deciding which to use :-\ the older bikes tended not to be used very much, I would most likely think to myself. why go out on a older bike, when I have a zzr1400 or gtr1400 just sitting in the garage, been there, done that! it use to do my head in ;D
My mate has been collecting for over 25+ years, and has just accumulated the bikes..I would guess that about 5 of them are available for use, they do represent an investment for the future but he really does love 'em all.
I sold some of mine because of the cost of insurance and tax on the non exempt ones.. I do ride my H2c and my S3a plus the KH500, which also belongs to my mate but lives with me, plusI have an F6a under assembly/restoration ...BTW they are all Kawasaki, what else ? ;D
Its like having an incurable disease....bikes, bikes, bikes.........
I have more than one bike also, took the KTM SMC for the M.O.T. last week, 78 miles in a whole year, paid the tax insurance and the MOT for a measly 78 miles. Everyone of those miles was a blast though and at £2 a mile worth every penny
Coman
3 bikes i always dreamed of owning as a kid, and if it ever happened and i had to sell any one of them i would be truly gutted
Suzuki 380
Benelli 750 sei
Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans
i would dearly love to find one and do a resto job.
Got to say having loads fun on the Mt 03. What a corker.
Cold though as used to a fairing. Least I can filter through traffic without smacking wing mirrors with my panniers.

So can I,... I leave the panniers at home! ;D :P 8)
Zedmeister, the Suzi GT380's are pretty rare but you can get the 550s for reasonable money.
Benelli Sei, either 750 or 900 are rare as rocking horse poop. Beautiful bikes but shite build quality and reliability.
A Guzzi? Oh well, I guess someone has to love tractors. ;)
My dream bikes are
Van Veen OCR
(http://www.bikeexif.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/van_veen_ocr_1000.jpg)
Another Z1300
(http://www.realclassic.co.uk/kawa03110103.jpg)
and even though it may have been the least reliable bike I have ever owned, I'd love another XS500.
Why I don't know,... but it did grow on me.
Looking at the above, I seem to have a fixation on late 70s nekkid bikes.
Come to think of it ya can add an XS1100 and GS1000 to that list,... and a Z1000ST. <LOL>
Van Veen -- rotary never seen one in the flesh but heard of them, was it a wankel engine ??? the suzuki R5 ( i think it was called ) i remember seeing a couple of them with the ugly round clock housing.
Never liked the GT550 much, the kettle was better but they are commanding stupid prices, the Z650 was nice though. i like the italian marques though, my monster is awesome soooooooooooo much fun. Doing some monster parade laps at silverstone - mallory - donnington this summer with the ducati owners club
well this beauty unfortunatley dose not belong to me :( but allways wanted one :) this one cost the guy £9,000 to get in this condition. but have seen theses selling in concours condition £15,000 plus :o

And they fetch more than that, one sold at Stafford this year for around £20K+ :o
And to be brutally honest I don't know why cos they are overpriced and somewhat overrated in my book.. (that is only my opinion)
A couple of years ago I bought this instead of a Z1,..and later swapped it for the 350 GTO Bridgestone
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/PICTURESIMPORTED1786.jpg)
And this is the pride of my collection it has personality, power, its mental, its totally stunning, N.O.S plus it ooozes charisma by the bucketload.. its also guaranteed to draw a crowd wherever it goes....its the absolute dogs danglies...and its mine .. woooohoooo ;D ;D ;D
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/IMG_0464.jpg)[/color]
The "kettle" is very nice indeed ;) don't think I would have let that go :o the "widowmaker" is also very nice, I'm not surprised you have kept that beauty ::) is it the 1972 H2? can it still do the 1/4 in 12 seconds or more to the point have you got the nerve ;) if I remember correctly the engine was far to powefull for the frame, brakes, and was proned to "mongo" wheelies with serious speed wobbels to boot!
Nah, its a 1975 H2c.. plenty power, loadsa fun. It rides just fine, mind you it has been subject to a total nut and bolt restoration and is now concourse.
It's really a case of screwing a different head on when I set off out on the bike, as it certainly isn't like a 'modern' machine and remembering to plan ahead a wee bit more when using the brakes ;D
Oh yes, it does wheely very easily :P
Mick Grant was the only guy i know who could ride the Widow maker half decent.
