Monday, 2nd January 2012 still officially a Bank Holiday I'm going to head out to Whitby if anyone would care to join me. Nothing special, nothing really planned, simply get there have some fish and chips, probably a walk round the town, etc.
Just keeping an eye on the weather at the moment, doesn't sound too bad as long as the snow stays away. :)
Gizza ring - may come and meet up
Will do. ;D
A bit far for me to attend but have a nice one ;D
Currently it's pissing it down!!
Hopefully tomorrow will be kinder.
Not been on mine for a fortnight but your to far away for a ride out.
Might have a local ride tomorrow before footy.

It's just arrived over here!
Honking it down!
It's been chucking it down in Leyburn all morning, but has now stopped and is looking a lot brighter . BUT the forecast for tomorrow is not brilliant there is even a mention of snow :o What kind of route are you thinking of Steve? and what time will the kick off be? I'm not saying I'm avin it but I may do if It's not bad in the morning. :)
Weather permitting I'll be leaving home no later than 8ish, I'll probably go A64 towards York and then out to Whitby or in that general direction. Probably take in Goathland too, Heartbeat country. There's a pub there where I'm sure they'll do food.
However if the weather is very wet out there I might take a different route out to Skegness or Mablethorpe. I'll check the weather later or today, hopefully give me a rough idea of the state of play.
Looks like I may have a family commitment now.
Let me know anyway though
Will do.
myself an two mates been out on the dirtbikes today, dispite it pre,,sistaintly rain most of the day we had a ball, muck n shit up to our eye balls, jet washed the bike and all my kit n in the wash it went!,,,,,,,,happy new year guys! :)
Well Steve, at least we tried!
Still not a cloud in the sky in East Yorkshire!
Ah well, makes it feel easier to spend money when it's nice.........................................
I got up at first light to have a look, and the hills across from my mansion were covered in snow :o, so back to bed for me. I'm now sat writing this and its throwing it down, but with the . most amazing rainbow thrown in. Ah well I think I will busy myself cleaning and feeding my leathers :) :)
Just got back from a walk with the dogs. Hasn't snowed since I spoke with you. Brisk but bright and sunny over here too. >:(
I'm grumpy now cause I've been looking forward to getting out on the bike for days to distract me from my forthcoming boring period at work.... >:(

I'm courious! why 3 weeks of misery? also would you "adam and eve it" woke up this morning and there was ice on the car windsreen and it was raining :( so I was rostered in work today, so thought may as well go in and get the overtime and the day in lieu and guess what? it's been really nice with sunshine all day :'(
I've sent you a PM but the clue is in the picture ;D
Well did mine today. Bootiful bright sunny day, went this morning before the wind arrived. Clean dry roads, v few cages, so perfect. I did one of those rides where I had no idea where I was going :D
Happened upon a couple roads that I didn't know and thought - well, lets see where they come out. One really nice stretch of v wide single carriageway with a line of cars ahead. needless to say, blasted past them without batting an eyelid, superb. Only minor downside, on me todd, and then when I stopped for a coffee three sports bikes riders arrived. We just happened to leave at the same time - miserable bleeders they were, not so much a smile, a nod or a hello. Oh well never mind, I am pretty sure they were jealous, as well as damn ugly and smelly ;D ;D ;D

now and again, use to get the cold shoulder when I had my kawasaki vn1600 cruiser. funny really! I would go for a ride to the ponderosa northwales on my zzr1400 or the zx636 I had, and allways got talking or other bikers used to let on. but when on the cruiser. well" I might as well been in the car. may be supersport riders consider tourers and cruisers to be un 8) well have got new's for them :P they don't know what there missing with the gtr1400 :) ;)
Three days and then I'm off work for four days again, I'm determined to get out and head to the coast.

We've currently got logs on for severe winds etc but according to the experts it's supposed to be ok this weekend, don't know who to believe now!! ???
I for one will still be sitting on the bike, in a warm garage, making vroom noises untill spring! :P
Take 2! I'm going to have another stab at this tomorrow, or today as it is now. Weather is supposed to be good out on the east coast. Oh and my Dad's asked me to pick him up a crab on my travels, should be interesting. ::)

Today, Saturday has been ok ... fresh and clear with the wind dropping a lot so ideal to get out ( I didn't ! ) ... my neighbour has been out all day on his GSA and had a great time .... me ? doing family stuff but managed a bit of wiping and waxing to get the bike looking nice for work next week. :)

Ponce!
Well I DID get out today and managed to get out to Whitby and then Bridlington where I picked up the aforementioned crab, well actually I got two, which were then swiftly conveyed back homewards in a pannier that now smells a bit fishy.
On route I called in to Seaways at Fridaythorpe which is one of Winston's favourite bike haunts. Very quiet there today despite the dry weather.

That was about it, the ZZR and the Repsol I bumped into again in Whitby a short while later.
I popped down to the harbour and then up to the Abbey, quite busy in Whitby for January and as usual nowhere to park.

Finally drifted home with my crab's late afternoon as the temperature sarted to plummet. Heated grips did their job as always but I wished I was wearing a heated vest as so many of you have. All in all though, I needed the diversion and I had a great time. Just need to give the bike a decent wash now. ;D
PONCE indeed ! Mr Wolf ... I like it, and your pictures of course ;D ;D
So you did get crabs then!?!!!!!!!!! :o

Alas, it would appear so.....and for my trouble it cost me £7! :)
Whitby Abbey. Not seen that place since I was a wee lad on a school trip. I think I'm going to have a ride over there. My old geography teacher, Mr Dennison, had a bench named in his honour next to the whalebone.
Took my bike out yesterday for the first time after three weeks. I just got used to the car over the Xmas period, but now that everyone is back at work, traffic on the road will be a bitch tomorrow. The gear sensor seems to have gone. From neutral went to 4th and stayed there for a while. Eventually started to work properly after about 30 mins of riding, but I shall be making a warranty claim.
On a positive note, at least the days are getting longer ...
Another warranty claim? ;)
This is why Kawasaki are so expensive?
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Its nearly out of warranty this March. After that I hope its good for another 50k.
Was thinking of buying a new one. Plan now is to buy a new house instead so can't justify a new bike.
You still staying in the Hudds area?

Yup, not too far away from where I live now.

Thats a coincidence.... mine too.
I popped across the road from my office into Kwaka uk headquarters and had a chat with them before i bought the gtr, they said I could take out the warrantly ext direct with them in March if I wanted to (as I didn't get the bike via a kwaka dealer). Be interesting to see if they stick to that come March? Completly off topic I know, but do you guys extend the warrantly - or just keep yr fingers crossed?
By the time I bought mine I wasnt eligible to purchase the warranty. :(
But touch wood, so far it hasn't let me down which isnt bad for an 07 plate. ;D

How much did they quote you for the extended warranty? I have been thinking about this since I purchased mine new in Sep.

It's £350.00. No negotiation as it is a Big K product!
ouch, much more than the previous bike (bm). maybe I'll wander back over and ask if they reduce it as part of the good neighbours scheme... ;D ;D ;D
No problems with my GTR ( should hope not it's only 10 months old !! ) but I shall buy the extended warranty when the time comes ..... just in case ... interesting point though, when I bought the bike the sales chap said to go back and buy it from him and quoted around the £350 mark for 2 years extra ... I have heard that the actual price you pay MAY vary between dealers .. is this correct ? Do K UK set a fixed price and some dealers just add on "their" own bit ? Any ideas ?
Its probably like everything these days, it pays to shop around. Wouldnt surprise me if the dealers get commision for selling the extended warranties. That being the case there's always room for a bit of haggling.
When you buy it the dealer just enters all your details onto the Big K computer. It generates it automatically with no dealer input/override.
It checks the machine is within the 2 year period since registration and kicks it back if over refusing you extra cover. Mine was taken out the last day of it's second year but because it didn't upload to Big K until midnight it read it as a day over two years and had to be resolved with K direct.
It isn't like an off the shelf warranty - it simply extends K's own warranty (provided servicing etc is kept up) - it is bespoke to K and varies dependant on capacity.
Whilst I bought it, it sticks in my craw a little that the bike is warrantied for 4 year at a cost of £350.00 with nothing more than keeping it serviced. If the product is that good and they have so much confidence in it, why not give the customer that warranty from day one (4 years)? (Rhetorical question!)
