Hi guys, picked up my 2010 GTR yesterday - yes... it is a funny time of year to buy a new bike!!
Saw some of the other posts in intro's re screens (yep gonna have to sort that out next year), tyres, okay so one long ish test ride (in lovely conditions) and one ride home from High Wycome aint gonna prove anything, but so far tyres seem really stable. So, 1st job tomorrow morning..... actually find out what tyres are on it now (2350 miles on clock).
So, one quick question I need help on...
I am gonna wimp out a bit and not ride much in this crappy weather, so I need a trickle charger. I ahve a Halfords 'Bike-it' charger on the 'other' bike, so was just gonna buy an additional cable, BUT i notice in the rather large and detailed booklet that kwaka only recommend a coupla chargers, inc the optimate.
Will I do any harm / will it work if I do use the halfords charger?
Thanks guys oh and ....... HELLO AND YIPPY..... DID I TELLYAALL I NOW GOT A GTR1400??? :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Hi and welcome, oh & congratulations on your new bike. Plenty of topics to keep you occupied on here over the winter months while your steed is keeping warm in the garage.
As for the trickle charger, optimiser, there are many on here who swear by them but then probably ten fold who don't bother, including myself. Last year was particularly bad and yet despite not using the bike for weeks I had no issues from the battery come the better weather.
cheers mate, appreciate the quick response. Ok, I'll probably wack the Halfords cable on then, as I'd be gutted if I rolled her outa the garage only to have to roll her back in agian ;)
Hi
I use an optimate on mine but just ran a fused cable from the battery to the standard cigar lighter socket and charge through that (its normally ignition live). It saves having another fly lead hanging round.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The Halfords unit should be fine. I've got one as well, which had two mode buttons on it (car or bike, sealed or unsealed). For the Kawasaki you want to select sealed.
Enjoy the bike!

Hello and Welcome to this great Forum !
Well done on choosing a brilliant bike ( I love the blue ) .... even at this time of year !! I don't live in St Albans but my son is at Uni there .... he loves it and says the locals are friendly !! ;D I have an Optimate 4 and although the bike is less than a year old I still like to plug her in when not commuting ... especially in the winter when I am riding with grips on and heated waistcoat keeping me warm.
Remember too ...ACF 50 ... Google it if your'e not sure ! ;D ;D
Enjoy the bike.

Welcome to the funny farm. Great choice of bike and you are on the right forum for all kinds of help and assistance if needed, cant say as I blame you for not wanting to venture out in this current spell of lousy weather. Get the trickle charger on and pray for better weather soon, then you will find out how good a bike you have bought. Enjoy cheers Geoff :)
I came up that way at weekend with Girl friend so could meet all her friends & family....you need that bike to get the hell outa there. More motor ways & A roads than you can shake a stick at. Every where joined into the next. No gaps between towns....yuk....
Well I'm sorry our local road network dont meet your exacting standards. If I'da known you we're coming up, .... I'da built a toll - that woulda really put you off (hopefully)..
Please enusre g/f family move asap so you dont have to endure such hardship again
No worries..I am put off. Dont want any more downshifters...TIC :cheesy:
Yer dont be offended , I am only assing about. I went to St Albans some years back had good night on the Ale as some mighty fine pubs if I recall.
