Earnshaws Ex demo (http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/bikes_popup.jsp?did=8303&pageid=3&originalid=&gid=nogroup&tid=2&start=1&distance=0&adcategory=bikes&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=201031364801353)
I've actually gone and sat on that very bike.
As I say, there isn't much to tempt me into getting a new one at the moment. I've more or less had a different bike for each year I have been riding. The only two bikes that have broke the mould is the V-Strom and GTR. I will admit that I enjoy my gadgets and probably spend a fortune each year on stuff that I don't really need. Which then leads onto the question why haven't I swapped my GTR for the latest incarnation? Maybe I will, but at the moment there simply is no need to upgrade.
Let me explain further. My friend rides a Pan European ST1100 on a 99 plate. At 70,000 miles he decided maybe he should upgrade his bike and went and test rode the new ST1300 (the one with the weave:)). His view was that it was a good bike, but had no soul due to the Euro 4 standards. He decided to keep his existing bike and purchased a second hand engine as he thought the engine would go before the body. He's now close to 200,000 miles on the original engine with the body starting to fall apart. He will upgrade his bike, but with the same model as his current bike ticks all the boxes.
And to be honest, the GTR 08 model I have ticks all the boxes. Yes, I would like the traction control feature from the new model, but other than that, the current bike does everything I want. So until there is a major upgrade of the GTR, I can't see myself changing unless of course, the longevity of the 08 model is called into question.
Having said all that, I was tempted by the ZZR 1400 in which case I would have had two bikes :)
;D I some how thought you would already know about that GTR. ;D
Do you live near there? If I get the chance tomorrow, weather permitting I might just pop over on the bike and have a look around their showroom. I have few things to do in the morning but it would be nice to meet up at some point and say Hi.
I live about a mile away ;D
Give me a shout tomorrow if you're going to pop over (I'll pm my details). I have a few minor things to do on my bike as well as pop over to Hein Gericke as the zip on my jacket is bust.
PM returned.
Good meeting with you. No doubt that Lonewolf's bike is in sparkling condition all year round! Will try and make my bike more presentable next time.
Ditto, nice to see who's running the site. :)
Hope you got sorted out at HG Leeds and hope you get the other matter sorted out with your display. I didn't know my bike would go that fast till I followed you on the motorway. ;D
I'm gonna pop upto Wrynose Pass in the Lakes tomorrow and then the GTR will be getting another good clean when I get home. 8)
Need to find me receipts for HG. God knows where I've put them.
Need to speak to dealer tomorrow about the display.
To top it off, missus managed to roll the XC90 into a car. They say bad luck comes in three's
I'm going to mount my GoPro in the same manner, but on the right wing mirror. I need to update the firmware first though.
:o Hope the wife is ok, hopefully not rolled as in flipped it over! As you say bad things come in 3's. Everything should be plain sailing from here on inwards.
With regards to the GoPro if you do mount it under the mirror as I have done you can still flip the video footage in your editing program, thats what I did before GoPro brought out their firmware update. Obviously its easier if you do update the camera long term especially if you are going to leave it on the bike as I do.
