Title: Fuel cap pressure
Post by: mattye on December 01, 2011, 09:38:07 PM
Hi all,

I've noticed that when I open the fuel cap that there is quite a loud hiss (not a small sound)  as if the fuel tank is pressurised.

Does anyone else get this and is it normal.

Cheers

I've not heard of this before so no it's not normal.

+ 1

Check the routing of the breathers and check the vent end is not blocked -- have you been working around the tank area ???

Just a thought -- does it happen when the fuel is at all levels or when the tank is low

Yup, sounds like tank vent.

If you're going to remove the tank to figure it out, make sure you torque the nuts properly. Otherwise I can see the next thread being "fuel cap ok, getting annoying vibration"  :)
