Lovely ride out today, dry roads, lovely and crisp, loads of sunshine and nearly December. I am the fairest of fair-weather riders, Defoe not a commuter, but my riding season has lasted from last Easter till now, how good is that? Nine months, not bad, if you screw your eyeballs up, next Easter is not that far away xx
We'll be out before easter at this rate... last year was mild too.. i was over in France on the bike at the end of Feb and it was fine ;D
So far its been mild. No snow either, unlike the previous two years.
Yeah, where's all this lovely snow they promised us before I spent £800 on bloody snow tyres!!!!! >:(
1st gritter of the year out in north Shrops tonight
We have a Council gritting station at the side of our Nick. Its always entertaining to see how rapidly their stock pile diminishes and then they start crying the poor tale. ::)
Came back from work late this afternoon and in horrible winter conditions ... dark, rain, wind, heavy traffic ( for the first few miles ) and lots of spray on the roads ... but tucked nicely behind the fairing and screen with grips on and wind deflectors recently added, with my PR 3's and that gear beginning with " R " I was very snug and dry indeed ... this bike is just brilliant ! Clocked 10,000 miles today since March 03rd and loving every mile. From work/commute to France its just awesome ! Hard to believe that when I make that same journey in 6 months time I shall probably need my sunglasses ! ;D ;D
Worked from home today and, with the travel time saved, managed to catch up on some episodes on Frozen Planet (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=frozen%20planet). Now that is cold.
Looks like tomorrow will be 5c and windy. It's been great this week battling the wind over the Pennines. I got caught by some gusts that gave me a "wtf was that?" moment.
As for mileage the bike is 6k short of 50k ;D
So how's the bike going with nearly 50k on it?
The engine is rock solid. I'm sure other components will fail before the engine. The majority of the time I just ride it. The three warranty issues:
1. Display failure. Very rare according to Kawasaki
2. Windscreen bracket failure. I expect this to be more common as bikes age. Obviously depends on riding style and if you ride in high winds
3. Warped discs.
50k is nothing for these bikes. Some in the states have done 100k+ and still going strong.
I bet these engines will just go on and on and on ..... bit like Mr Wolf really ;D ;D
