Title: Seat Problems?
Post by: cpettifer on November 22, 2011, 10:33:33 AM
Does anyone else have a problem with their seat not staying locked down? I struggle to get mine shut without it popping up again and then, sometimes when I get to work, or home, I find it's popped up while I've been riding. I've also discovered I can sometimes wiggle it open without using the key to open it.

Common problem?

I'm guessing it's something I need to get my dealer to sort out under warrantee...

Is it popping up at the front or rear?

Popping up at the rear - where the locking mechanism is.

Take it back to dealer. Shouldn't pop out.

I had that once, but it seems to stay in place now.

I had the same problem - was caused by the metal tab on the rear of the seat that locates in the locking mechanism not being perfectly straight/vertical.

Bent it straight with a pair of pliers and its been fine since. It was only very slightly out so the position is very critical.

The metal tab on mine is bent. Presume this is the problem then. I'll contact my dealer - but probably live with it until 4k service.

It probably only needs a tweak of a mm or so one way or another. Get some pliers on it or give it a gentle tap with a big hammer.
