Title: mate wrote is bike off!
Post by: 2kwacks on November 11, 2011, 10:36:52 PM
mate called me on wednesday to say he was back from hospital with a broken collar bone, bruised ribs and badly bruised leg. he had took is hayabusa for its m.o.t and on the way home he was pulling out of a road and must have put to much power on and bike slid from under him. he tried to right it but it flicked him off and he landed with his arm out and the bike on top of him. the bike tyre must have dug into the tarmac and shot across the road hitting the kirb then some railings. the right hand side of the bike was demolished from front to end and the engine casing was cracked with oil leaking out! he's going to be off work for 8 to 10 weeks. yes it was first thing in the morning and was dam cold the night before. could have been ice or oil that caused the bike to loose grip or a heavy right hand. we all hope that the traction control on our bike's would have prevented that from happening. the gtr is the first bike have had with traction control, have felt it kick in just once and that was with-in a few weeks of me picking it up. it's never happended since but I allways ride to the conditions so never really thought it was necessary, but dam glad have got it on the gtr. I know the new zzr1400 as traction control. my df8 2008 model zzr1400 dose not :( this as shook him up quite abit, not sure if he will be sticking to 4 wheels from now on. looks like it may be the french and swiz alps on my own next year :'( unless a few others are going ;)

Seriously bad news that, hopefully he'll make a swift recovery. Did the Old Bill come out, was it oil?

Sorry to hear that news .. hope he makes a speedy recovery ( no pun intended ! )  Traction Control on a ZZR ? Now that would be a very worthwhile safety feature  ;D

take a look at this link on the new 2012 zzr1400 there's some significant improvents. why they made it quicker than the previous model, beggars belief! but the traction control and various other upgrades are a nice touch. dam, just when you think you have reach the top of the ladder, you fall a few runs! ;) the second link which is a clip is a new 2012 stock zzr1400 completley demolishing the hayabusa!
