Title: few pics of the remus exhaust fitted
Post by: 2kwacks on November 11, 2011, 08:23:17 PM
D&K never let me down! deliverd today and just fitted it. not had chance to take it for a spin yet, but if the weather is better tomorrow will give it a run to make sure its not blowing, but its looks well designed and went on very easy. the remus as the second securing bolt that the standard exhaust as in the middel of the link pipe situated by the the foot rest. which makes it easier to line every think up. here is a few pics. looks better than the original exhaust, especially with the panniers removed. "me thinks" :)

Does look good I have to admit but I dont think I could bring myself to dump the original pipe, it's huge but it suits the GTR ;D

I can understand where your good self and mr wolf are coming from. I thought the standard exhuast looked fine with the panniers on. however I think the standard exhaust looks out of place without panniers! and as I ride mostly without them, thought a smaller "not so much in your face" remus would be a better choice for me ;)

been for a ride to check the remus out, sounds very nice indeed ;D there is a slight blow from the link pipe. the exhaust clamp strap could go move another 1mm towards the front completely covering the slits at the end of the link pipe. when it cools down will loosen and try to move the clamp forward abit! this may stop the slight blowing am sure if its on the very end of the link pipe, it may close the slits that tad more! if the not, carbon deposits should blocked it in time. "all in all" dam nice can, very well made and designed. and very easy to fit. "ten out of ten" to MR remus! :)

"now now! one step at a time, its took me 12 months to take of the super quite stealth job! up to now the wife has not noticed ;) she may need to go to spec savers, but I confirm there's sod all wrong with her hearing ;D think removing the baffle may make her a tad suspicious, "hear no evil see no evil" ;)

Mine has the baffle out and at idle its not any louder. Sounds better at speed

Did you put on a new exhaust gasget?

have you fitted the remus exhaust! the reason am asking is the remus link pipe was a dam tight fit. and there would be no way I would have got it to slip on if the gasket was used! most other after market cans have fitted don't use a gasket! I do have a slight blow at the link but expect this to close after a bit of use. if you have a remus fitted and you have also fitted the original gasket or even replaced with a new gasket then let me know! will take another look at it.

Yes, I have the remus as well.
Mine didn't fit with a gasket either and probably blows a bit.

I'm 99% sure that this remus exhaust should not have a gasket on the link pipe. for one! there's no way it would have slip over with a gasket in place, its as tight as a nats chufter or as a duck's chufter and that's water tight ;D also am sure if remus go to so much trouble designing a quality exhuast am sure they would have included the gasket if its was required. I have now loosened the clamp and turned it slightly and re-tightend it, I expect the second tightening to stop the slight leak. if not, the carbon deposits in time should bung it up ;)

Finally caved at the NEC today and bought a Remus Okami, same as a hexagons but with composite outlet cap and stainless inlet, as opposed to carbon. Significantly cheaper and got a good discount too  ;D

nice one! was going to buy the remus okami they were selling "new" on ebay for £280.00 with free postage! which I thought was reasonable. but did see the carbon hexacone on the same model as mine when I was out and about, and it looked excellent and really suited the bike with it being carbon black and carbon inlet and outlet, so bit the bullet and orderd one from d&k. have not told the wife how much it cost yet, and don't have any plans on doing so either ;) up to now she as not noticed it from the black standard can, but there's only so long I can hide her glasses for ;D some pics when it's been fitted please!

Finally got round to fitting the exhaust after the bike's triumphant return from the dealer. Great looking can, easy to fit and fits superbly, sounds sooo much better too. I think the pick up is better and the bike feels more alive. didn't put the stickers on because I liked the stock look on the bike. Really chuffed and being composite and stainless it should last well too. So in short Remus Okami highly reccomended! :D
