General Discussion / FJR issues

Yamaha  USA recommend that you leave your FJR 1300 at home

A potential  gearbox lock could cause the rear  wheel  to lock up

Oooh  er

IMHO you have excelled yourself Steve, in particular the drone footage, and you chose a great day as the light was superb for filming...your best yet

I'm guessing the conversation with the road repair guy was amiable

Thanks for sharing

General Discussion / Just a thought
November 03, 2020, 02:55:11 PM

I did not write this - but WOW does it speak to my heart!!!  Worth the read.
Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening.
Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday.
... and the month is already over.
... and the year is almost over.
... and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed.
... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.
and we realize it's too late to go back...
So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time...
Let's keep looking for activities that we like...
Let's put some color in our grey...
Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.
And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters...
I'm doing it after...
I'll say after...
I'll think about it after...
We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don't understand is that:
Afterwards, the coffee gets cold...
afterwards, priorities change...
Afterwards, the charm is broken...
afterwards, health passes...
Afterwards, the kids grow up...
Afterwards parents get old...
Afterwards, promises are forgotten...
afterwards, the day becomes the night...
afterwards life ends...
And then it's often too late....
So... Let's leave nothing for later...
Because still waiting see you later, we can lose the best moments,
the best experiences,
best friends,
the best family...
The day is today... The moment is now...
We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away.
So let's see if you have time to read this message and then share it.
Or maybe you'll leave it for... ′′ later "...
And you'll never share it....

The Dark Side / Can Am Spyder
September 26, 2020, 11:21:39 AM
Over the past weeks I have been considering what to do about a replacement for my Versys 1000 which as you may recall had to go due to 'safety issues' which I have with my physical circumstances, We have also been moving house back to England and that has been 'somewhat' time consuming, but now we are moved in my attention is once again turned towards my next bike (if there is to be one)

During the course of a conversation with Steve (Lonewolf) t'other day he asked me if I had considered a Can Am Spyder, well I had.... and they do seem to be a possible solution for me, although it will be next season before I make any decisions

So I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of these machines, a pal of mine has owned two, the first being a 998 cc and the second the 'better' 1330 cc version, he said they are fantastic

If anyone has any views or input it would be appreciated...............they are a bit pricey though

General Discussion / Safety issues
August 17, 2020, 07:01:49 PM
Long term spinal degenerative conditions coupled with worsening hip/knee issues have been plaguing me for some months now,(I guess I could add ageing process into the equation) which means that I  have had no alternative other than to hang up my riding boots, at least for the short term anyway.

Feeling unsafe when riding really isn't any good, plus I was struggling massively to even mount and dismount my bike, so the Rev Shed is now empty of any bikes, .....they are gone !

I plan to see how I am over the Autumn and Winter seasons with a view to making a decision about maybe getting something next year, a Maxi Scooter,  may be a good decision.!,,,, time will tell

It has been a tough but necessary decision

General Discussion / BOOO !

anyoneout there, it'svery quieton here just now.

I haven't ridden my bike for some weeks due to a combination of poor weather and a very sore hip, which is an ongoing problem.

Hopefully better weather and less pain will  enable me to get out on the road before summer ends !

So what are you  guys getting up to ?

Outside in the garden yesterday, we had Swallows swooping overhead and then the clear sound of a nearby Cuckoo

It's not biking related but it was lovely .... just saying

General Discussion / Riding restrictions

As we aren't allowed to ride for recreation at the moment, I thought it would be a good idea to 'warm' the bikes up

This made me want to ride even more

General Discussion / New Hyabusa
February 09, 2020, 08:51:37 AM
I read this report and wondered ' if Suzuki see a niche and can satisfy Euro 5 emission regulations then maybe KHI could do the same thing and re-introduce the GTR in 1441cc guise'

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bikes/suzuki-hayabusa/

Let's not lose sight of the fact that Kawasaki already offer a range of alternatives within the latest line up of bikes

Just thinking
