1400GTR Discussion / Re: Pillion Pegs

Quote from: Bluesman on December 29, 2025, 06:24:18 PMAnyone have any info on where I can find straight swap pegs, Mrs Bluesman has complained they are a little too narrow and should be rubber topped. I suspect she may not be the first. Why didn't Kawasaki fit decent pegs to a long distance bike?
Something like this maybe?

How did you find doing the valve service? How many were out of spec?

Looks like a comprehensive service

Allegedly in stock
Thanks, purchased, been looking for one for ages!

My bike is 2011, think they were replaced already once under warranty, so they'll be about 10 years old. Roughly the time they start to go I think

So from that link, this is the pad that you need to programme it which is hard to source

So on the newer ones you can replace it with a version from a specific car (can't remember off the top of my head). It's cheaper but you have to get them programmed. There was some hardware that would program your new one but it looks like it's no longer available.

I'm dreading when mine go because I really like the TPS

I can understand if it's been dropped but otherwise it must be a manufacturing defect. Can't think how else that would happen

Quote from: Bluesman on November 08, 2025, 11:57:55 AMThanks guys, appreciate it.
There's a video done by a member of one of  the American forums that I followed. Even then it was a pain with all the bits that you have to take off.

The space to work in there is very tight

I think it's the tools you'll need. From memory it's very very tight working in there

A month on Michelin 6 GT tyres and wow! Grip is insane in dry conditions (not tried wet yet). Don't know how Michelin keep doing it.

1400GTR Discussion / Re: main stand/removal
August 26, 2025, 09:30:24 PM
Going to revive this old thread.

My centre stand wouldn't snap back. The spring was rusty so replaced that but no difference. I've sprayed WD-40 between the mounts so now when I take the bike off the centre stand, it still doesn't snap back, unless I give it a little help and then it snaps back.

Looks like WD-40 isn't the ideal solution anyway, so looks like I need to take it off, give it a good clean and apply some lithium grease. Does anyone know if the exhaust has to come off as well? Not a big deal if it has to, but I'd rather not have to do any more work than necessary.

And black hammerite to get it back to black I assume?

I feel a guide or YouTube video coming on ...

Quote from: Boomer on August 13, 2025, 12:29:49 AMActually managed nearly 3hrs in the saddle on Saturday. I took breaks every hour to ease my back which helped but I was comfier than I expected. Am hoping that the current bout will subside soon so I can ride more often. Did a wide loop around Chelmsford sticking to backroads.

Three hours ain't bad. I did about the same, only meant to go out for an hour.

What's helped me is yoga. Lots and lots of yoga

I saw the new Versys at the dealership last week and was tempted.
But I've still got the itch of the ZZR first, so will have to scratch that next.

As for the forum, it's not going anywhere. It's been going since June 2009 so 16 years old
