As per the title.

Kawasaki assembly manual for the 1400GTR, specifically the 2010 model but would suit most Gen 2 models.

Sadly there are a few planned trips this year, mainly on the bike but a couple of family outings that are simply not going to take place. As Dave said at the start "who would have thought?"

I suppose that the only silver lining is that I can put off buying a new and very much needed set of panniers until next year !!

Chins up everyone ... when this is all over we will enjoy our trusted steeds even more, regardless of their badge and we can all go out and enjoy the warmth and the .... Oh no wait ... it,ll be winter by then !

In which case there is no need to put your clock forward on the bikes.

We have a number of FJR's on our bloodbike fleet.
Subjectively, I think they feel lighter on the road, but as heavy when wheeling them about.
Dash display is a bit more 'modern'  compared to the GTR's twin dials.
The screen IMO is a lot better than the GTR's, one thing I really hated about the GTR was the amount of trial and error to get a half decent 'noiseless' ride.

Good day to you all... I've just purchased my first ever Kawasaki a lovely 15plate gtr which comes with a scorpion exhaust...
I am looking at purchasing an original exhaust as I prefer the bike a little quieter due to bloodbiking and visiting hospitals after midnight on runs etc etc.. Does anyone have one going and for that matter does it matter what year gtr1400 the original end can comes from ie 2007-2009 or 2015 onwards

Cheers all
Steve

I've got one, from a 2012 model. The alloy end pieces need a coat of paint and there is a small area where the black has lifted [ fairly common problem ] I'd want £50 and shipping [ about £15 as it is heavy ]

Tartan Jock, I have PM'd you.

The Dark Side / Re: Another GTR moved on.

Well three months in to the ownership and some things in the bike world never change.
Aftermarket sat-nav mount - Check [ BMW one fouls a large tank bag ]
Aftermarket screen - Check [ BMW one is fine at normal road speeds, a bit larger needed for motorway cruising ]
Aftermarket rear hugger fitted - Check [ Back of bike filthy without one ]

Still making me grin when I ride it, not so much when I clean it, I forgot how dirty unfaired bikes could get.

Happy New Year to you all.

Thanks, my are exactly the same. Thought I might be able to get a replacements or 3rd party carbon fibre.
I suspected they might be, never mind I'll give them a clean and stick them on fleabay with some other bits and pieces.

1400GTR Discussion / Re: Hi all ,, new here

Only  owned a GTR, but ridden BMW, FJR and Trophy as fleet bikes.
Loved the GTR but my needs changed and I down sized. The only real negative in my experience was the windscreen on the GTR, compared to the others I mention it was by far the noisiest ride.
Walking the bike around was a pain due to the weight, but out on the road it was great.

Pictures 1-4 are l/h side. 5-8 are r/h side

All tabs and fasteners are ok, only damage is to the raised rim areas. These would smooth out with some fine sand paper and some 'back to grey'

Allan

Confirm yours is a facelift 2010 model ?

If so I may have what you need.

From the manual

Rear Caliper Mounting Bolts 25Nm,  2.5 Kgf-m 18 ft/lb

So not a lot, and no mention of lubricant or thread lock
13
The problem with coppasliping [ made up word ] threads is that it changes the friction and makes it very easy to overtighten things even with a torque wrench

There are numerous different thread locks and lubricants from makers like Loctite for different metals and applications.

Just spotted this thread.
The one you saw being loaded was  mine, the 66 plate owner had traded in for an S1000XR.
We both turned up for a test ride of various bikes the same morning, he took out the XR and a 1250GS, and I took both those plus the 850.

The 66 plate was still in Sycamores last  week with a standard exhaust on the floor waiting to be fitted.

The blanket one size fits all fix to a problem.
Probably in one store at one time, there has been a problem and the reaction is what you encountered.
Similarly I quite often get a 'double cupped' tea or coffee, I suspect because they have run out of those corrugated sleeve things and cannot possibly use a single cup and tell people to be careful or even use a tray.
