Quote from: Rynglieder on December 22, 2023, 06:32:16 PMI didn't know you had been into the MX - I was curious about how the course was set out, did it involve all those cobbles up to the citadel?
No, the start was in the arena section and the track wiggled around that area before a run out into the forest, up and down the hill and back into the arena. MX has to be run on soil so no cobbles, thank god! Muddy tyres on cobbles would be slippery as ****!!!😱

I love that part of the Ardennes. Dinant is a strange town but quite scenic.
I used to race MX for KTM at Namur and didn't know they had stopped racing there.
It was a challenging track with lots of trees and hard unforgiving walls.

For the future the best route from Luxembourg to Givet is to come off the motorway just after Arlon and then follow the N83 to Bouillon, then follow the Semois river until it feeds into the Meuse, then up the Meuse to Givet. Nice empty twisties (except at weekends) and glorious scenery from Bouillon to Givet.

 :185:  :185: Bucky,

If you can't get it to 'highlight' the Clock row, then I can't see how you can set the time.
Are you sure that you have it in Set mode?
To get into Set mode press and hold both buttons for a few secs.

The way to deal with such problems is lower speed limits and rigid enforcement rather than discrimination. If it was no motor-vehicles then fair enough.
I do understand the locals feelings and having hordes descend every sunny weekend is irritating and potentially dangerous, but overt discrimination just breeds more discrimination.
Overt discrimination against motorcycles and motorcyclists is on the rise across the EU and UK.
In Austria some mountain passes have banned motorcycles for some pretty spurious reasons and green lanes across EU/UK are being closed to motorcycles and 4x4s.
Yes, there are always bad apples who ruin it for the rest of us, but why punish everyone for the actions of a few?

Unless it is a prominent "NO MOTORCYCLES" sign, I ignore it and play the dumb tourist if pulled over. I can understand locals not wanting noisy motorcycles but if the bike is road legal then that kind of restriction is discriminatory. Perhaps I should get my mate with his V8 trike to go there? The Police never know how to deal with that. 🤣🤣

Introductions / Re: GTR 1400 Replacement Tyres
October 26, 2023, 06:26:19 PM
Agreed, the Bridgestone BT-021 are terrible tyres. I've never tried the 023.
I prefer the Michelin Road 5GT or Road 6GT and I hear good things about Dunlop RoadSmart 3 & 4 as well as Pirelli Angel 2GT.
I've been running the 190/55-ZR17 on the rear for the last 3 tyres (all Michelin PR4) and prefer it over the 190/50-ZR17 as it handles better. It does raise the seat by 5mm but clears my hugger and no other issues with that size.

I've never heard of them.
I've always used EBC-HH or SBS-HH pads.

Several of my friends have commented that the GTR feels like a VFR800 on steroids so you should feel at home.😁

Common issue with a loose battery earth lead where it bolts to the frame.
I added a copper crush washer to mine and put copper grease on the thread to stop it from vibrating loose.
