General Discussion / Spam and stuff
August 03, 2025, 01:51:58 AM
Firstly, let me apologise for not being proactive  on the forum so much. I didn't realise so much spam had built up.

I think I've cleared most of it up. I might have inadvertently removed more than necessary, but nothing major.

I'll work on preventing spam in the coming week.

The reason that I haven't been on the forum is because I've not ridden my GTR for a long, long time. It's been gathering dust in the garage. I've got to that age where health issues (mainly around my joints) have meant that riding the GTR was a no no. I was aiming to get it out a few years ago but then went backwards in my recovery.

The reason I logged into the forum was because my joint issues are much much better and I've got the itch to get back on the bike. I needed to refresh my memory on servicing etc and where better to do that but on the forum.

Given that the GTR is no longer manufactured, I guess this forum will have a dwindling user base. But it does have lots of good info which is why I've kept it going, albeit at a loss. Hopefully some people still find the info here useful, like me today 😊

Genuinely hoping to be more active on the forum. I'm aiming to get my bike ready in the next few weeks so will defo be here reading up on stuff that I used to know off by heart.

Once again, sorry for the spam.

General Discussion / Just checking in
February 11, 2023, 09:10:40 PM
It's been over 20 months since I last rode my GTR.
I needed an operation on my ankle which went successfully, and just when I was getting fully fit, I went and injured my tailbone  :censored:

Thought I'd better get the MOT done, only ment to go the MOT station and back, ended up going out for a few hours. Only stopped because my back said enough.

Oil change, new tyres (might try the PR 6) and some TLC are in order in the next few weeks.

Don't forget to donate to your favourite GTR forum.

There's also the option of doing a recurring donation. If you can spare a quid or so every month, that would be appreciated.

1400GTR Discussion / Fork seal cost
August 19, 2021, 07:40:12 PM
Hi,

Anyone got an idea how much a garage should charge me for replacing a fork seal?

I'd do it myself if it wasn't for the specialist tool required.

Thanks

General Discussion / Upgrade
January 21, 2021, 11:13:34 PM
Hi,

Just a heads up that the site will be down tomorrow.

I'm finally going to do the update which will hopefully fix the issues we've been having.

Hopefully I'll get it done tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay in getting it done. I've had a lot on my plate recently.

1400GTR Discussion / Leaking fork seal
September 24, 2020, 02:02:19 PM
Hi,

How easy is it to fix a leaking fork seal?  Is it something best left to a mechanic or can someone with my limited knowledge do it?

General Discussion / Website issues
September 08, 2020, 01:40:28 PM
I've been banging my head trying to fix these website issues some of you are having.

I have error logging enabled for both the site and database and there are zero errors logged.

One of the options is to upgrade the forums to the latest version, but i'm reluctant to do so as there is a newer release due in the next few months, and I would rather upgrade then.

The only other component it can be is if one of the plugins are misbehaving. I've removed a couple of them that were redundant anyway.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if people are still having issues.

Hopefully it was a rogue plugin  :gun_bandana:

Introductions / Hello from Yorkshire
October 11, 2016, 08:58:25 PM
Hi,

I used to run a GTR forum a long time ago. Don't know what happened but I think I'm back  :innocent:

I remember a few dodgy blokes with K16s and Versys. Hope they've seen the light and come back to the GTR  :whistling:

Brand new optimate 4. Package has been opened.

When I moved, I couldn't find my old optimate. So I ordered a new one.
New one arrives, but me being lazy puts it to the side. Fast fwd a few weeks, I go to fit it to the bike and whilst rummaging for some tools find my old optimate.

So this new one has been lying around not doing anything.

£30 pickup (West Yorkshire)
Happy to post but will have to get a price for p&p

Brand new, only opened it today to see what was in the package during a garage clearout

£10 pickup (West Yorkshire)
£13 shipped

As per title. Translucent brown wind deflectors to fit the first gen GTR (up to and including 2009 model)

Bit of wear and tear but nothing that can't be sorted. The mounting arms could do with sanding down and respraying in black if I'm being picky.

£10 pickup from West Yorkshire.
£15 if you want them posted.

Grab yourself a bargain.

1400GTR Discussion / Front brake disc/rotors
May 27, 2016, 09:46:48 PM

The Kawasaki ones warped again after being replaced under warranty. This time I decided to go for an after market brand, and since I've heard good things about the Chinese ones, decided to take the risk and get some. They can't be any worse than the Kawasaki stock ones which are probably made in China anyway.

I thought I was buying the Ashari ones from eBay, but it transpires they are made by a company called Tarazon. I'd never heard of them before, but given that they were well packaged and looked like they had been manufactured correctly, I decided to put them on along with EBC HH pads that I'd purchased.

Still early days, but the initial feedback from these discs is good. There's no pulsing, brakes bite quick, and feel better than the OEM ones. I'll give an update once there's a but more mileage on them, and initial impressions are positive.
