Guys what do you think about this?

I have a  2010 magnesium (brown) GTR1400, 20K on the clock (service needed) , need new tyres and pads.  I could swap it for a 2010 (59 plate) GTR1400 in brown with 5.5K on the clock for £2200.  Should I do it or not?

My bike has an alarm, the other one doesn't

20k service is a minor one, so service, tyres and pads are likely to cost you £600?

So, I guess, is £1,600 worth it to you to get a lower mileage bike that is further away from the expensive 24k service? Factor in the fact that the 5.5k bike is likely to need both tyres and a minor service at 8k too, and I think you are looking at more like £2k to change.

Spend some of that £2k on a nice exhaust, PR3s, and have a touring holiday on what will *seem* like a new bike instead?

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

A mon avis ... sorry, school boy French, I would stick with what you have and know to be good .... as Martin says, service cost plus tyres and pads etc .... the bike would feel like new again and you would still be quids in, and although the other services would still need to be paid for with your mileage it will all come around in the end  :(

is there anything wrong with your existing bike? Personally, if there were no issues I'd follow Martin's advice

So nobody says swap. . . . .Ok I will keep my bike.  There is nowt  wrong with it anyway.  Getting PR3s fitted today bloody expensive hope they're good?

Thanks for the advice chaps

There are only solutions

How much are you paying for the PR3s? You can save on cost by taking off the wheels yourself.

Thats got to be the funniest thing i have ever read on this forum.  I can just about fill it with diesel safely never mind take wheels off.  It cost me 280 ride in ride out

I was quoted £283 for a fully fitted set of PR3s today.
And since  the Dunlop Roadsmarts are only 5 quid cheaper I think I'll go for the Michelins.
Still got a couple of mm tread left, so hopefully it won't be until next month that I need to have the O21s replaced.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Taking the wheels off is no biggie.

We all have our skills.... mine do not lie in that area

Regarding the PR3s - they feel much better than the Avons - although they wouild given they were borderline illegal when replaced.  The turn in etc does seem much better than the Avons when they were new.

Got a new set of (carbon lorraine) pads on the front as part of the service and they feel lovely.

I spent hours watching my kids clean my bike thoroughly and polish it.  It looks like new again.  All I  need to do now is chuck a load of ACF50 on it and it will be set up for Winter....
