Anyone worked out a way of removing topbox key whilst it remains unlocked?

I would really like a way of keeping the topbox latched, but unlocked. I use the box every day, and rarely need to lock it as it is usually empty when the bike is parked.

A t'interweb search suggests that "filing the first highpoints off the key" allows this, but alas it does not mention what model of Givi box/key this works on.

I think I shall get a spare key cut and experiment with that, but just wondering if anyone else has tried this before.

I'm pretty sure you can remove the whole lock, but not sure if that has any useful bits in it to allow the box to close / remain shut.
Current - Kawasaki 1400 GTR
Previously - Kawasaki Versys, Honda 650 Deauville, Honda 125 Varadero

The problem with not having the box locked is that anybody can just push the release button and swipe the whole thing.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

if this is the oem box then dont worry about it being locked. My box opens quire easily when in the locked position and the key removed. Poor design and cheap plastic mechanism. didnt find out till i had a recent trip to Switzerland oops  :-[
