Has anyone used a car sat nav on the bike, plugged in.
Question? I am going to use my Car Sat Nav on a tour to Belgium later this month. However the battery life is not good, and I was going to use some cable ties on the bars and plug it into the power socket on the move. I use a small tank bag to keep the sat nave dry.

Not sure about this, and wonder if anyone has used this method.

I used my Tom Tom 720 in a small tank bag initially before I got the Zumo, absolutely no problems at all. The negative aspect for me was the angle of the device on the tank, it required you to take your eyes off the road for longer than normal in order to view it. However if you were intending to use it more for reference at regular stops to check your bearings then it would be more than sufficient.

That's what I do all the time. Been doing it for the past three years. Don't even put it in a water proof bag or anything.

Thanks for that. Do any of you have it plugged into the socket? My battery life is poor if it is not powered.

I personally didn't plug mine in but there was nothing stopping me doing so had I wished to do so.

My Zumo 550 came with a car fitting (suction) and a connector that fits onto the power socket of a car, which is the same dimension as the one on the GTR.
I actually used it on the GTR before I had the proper bike holder wired up.
So if a bike sat-nav can be used in a car why shouldn't a car sat-nav work on a bike?
After all both use the same voltage.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

i use my car sanav(navman) with no problems at all. i had an adapter made by bob at Telferiser that enables me to use the car mount with ram mount on the head stock bolt.
