Hi

Today I had an opportunity try out a new HD Video camera - a Poseidon Waterproof 720 HD Sports Video camera with romote control which I bought from Amazon for just under £90. After an initial trial this morning I am so far impressed with the camera, it was easy to set up and operate and the picture quality looks fairly good on my PC - well for the price.

Here is the link to the video clip on You Tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBjmeQXyIZs

The video was recorded at 720 HD and it saves the video clips every 5 minutes, which makes editing easier and with a 16GB SD card I have about 5 hrs recording time. I was surprised that the camera has a built in Mic and it has picked up the engine noise rather nicely, although the sound seems to have disappeared from You Tube. video  The video was edited in Nero Vision 10, which I will have to get to grips with as wella s sorting out the most appropriate settings.

I am going to try the camera in a different position, as I think the RH mirror is having an effect on the exposure levels.

The quality looks good on you tube too and the price is good. Can it be powered from 12v from the bike or only by the battery?

I think this is where a lot of these cameras fall short. If they could be powered from the bike that would be brill but they all seem to be limited to the battery life of the unit. If anyone knows of a camera system which can draw power direct off the bike I would be interested to know which one it is.

If you had an electrical lead with a USB connection that has a step down transformer to take it to 3.7V you might be bale to but you could only do it in the dry as to charge the battery with it still in the camera you need to un-clip the waterproof housing. The battery is 1700 mAh so it will be interesting to see how long the battery lasts.

The bullet cam that i am using can be run from the 12v socket on the bike using a cig-lighter to usb lead  but this goes into a separate recorder unit that is safely tucked away in the tank bag.

I'll be intersted in knowing how the battery life turns out.

Well so far the battery has faired pretty well - used it twice and so far managed about 4hrs between charges. I have an all day ride on Sunday so that will be the real test.

Kind regards
