i have a 2012 plate GTR1400, the main stand is really rusty, is it easy to remove to re-paint, is it simply 2 bolt's to remove.

like so hammerite smooth black it  is.will not try to remove it.
thank's for the reply.

Mine rusted so badly that at the 15k mile service it was replaced under warranty. The replacement has so far managed a further 62k miles of year round use but will need some paint soon. Should just be 2 bolts and the spring to get it off. I have done a few GTR1000 centrestands but haven't done the 1400 yet.

Going to revive this old thread.

My centre stand wouldn't snap back. The spring was rusty so replaced that but no difference. I've sprayed WD-40 between the mounts so now when I take the bike off the centre stand, it still doesn't snap back, unless I give it a little help and then it snaps back.

Looks like WD-40 isn't the ideal solution anyway, so looks like I need to take it off, give it a good clean and apply some lithium grease. Does anyone know if the exhaust has to come off as well? Not a big deal if it has to, but I'd rather not have to do any more work than necessary.

And black hammerite to get it back to black I assume?

I feel a guide or YouTube video coming on ...
