Using the GTR as my winter bike this year, Have  not ridden through winter for about 20 years since i rode every day commuting. Retired now so with another retired guy i know we have carried on riding. Spend a lot of time cleaning after every ride but it has made the winter zoom by.
My 2013 has just clocked 28k miles in its eleven years and the last few weeks it has needed a bit of money spending it.
I got the ECU flashed with the MRP re map, Massive difference to the bike and worth every single penny. My choice to do and not an issue with the bike.
Changed the front discs to EBC after a warping issue i could not resolve, Cleaned the carrier bobbins and stripped an cleaned the calipers but still the vibration was there.
Changed the rear caliper mounting bracket as one of the mounting hole threads was almost stripped, front bolt was only just holding.
Fork seals changed as they were leaking, fine one day then the left one was leaking bad all of a sudden
Yesterday the final drive started leaking oil so the oil seals need doing on that. Booked it in to get that fixed and while its in getting the valve clearances done as well as i cant find any record of them ever being done.
This is my 2nd GTR, Had a nearly new one in 2008 and traded it in for my 1st Harley and bought this one for the TT last year. Fantastic bike and i love riding it and hopefully after these last two jobs are done it will do another 28k miles.

I moved from BMW to my 2nd GTR and have been using it through the winter so far and I have to say the bike is great but certain components seem to dissolve in the winter compared to BMW. I use the bike for a week clean it every weekend, doing 200 miles a week. Get the ACF50 on it and spray it with scotoiler FS365, GT85 spray. It's a big job keeping it pristine and sometimes I feel I'm loosing the battle!!

Keeping it clean is never ending

Glad to hear you guys are getting some use out of them over the winter.

Whilst I don't lay mine up, I confess to being selective on which days I ride at this time of year. If a bright day heaves into view and there is no risk of ice I'm up for a run.

I really haven't spent much on my GTR other than the inevitable tyres and oil change, it's done about 22k now and cost no money really.

Last week I attempted a short ride on my Z1000, but it was running very badly. I suspect the spark plugs as it has happened before, so a new set are on order. I'll also perhaps pick up an oil filter this afternoon, (the oil was purchased last week, surprisingly Halfords seemed to have a good deal) and set about it when everything is together.

Motorcycling is never the cheapest leisure pursuit, but worth every penny for the pleasure.

Stay safe,

Pete.
