Hi Everyone,

Just got my 2008 GTR1400, enjoying it so far but will look to add some handlebar risers I think. A couple of quick questions.

1, Does the range constantly go up and down on all bikes?
2, bike seems to get hot against my legs, not uncomfortably so but just noticeable. I know its a massive engine under loads of bodywork but wondered if this is also normal?

If anyone is around the Chippenham, Wiltshire area and fancies a ride out get in touch would love to meet some other owners to see what they have done with thier bikes.

Cheers,

Nick

Welcome along and congratulations on getting your GTR

The earlier (2008) model was known for being hotter than the later models

I'm not sure what you are referring to regarding "range" going up and down

Yes, the fuel range will yo-yo a bit.  Depends on how much you e used the throttle over the last few miles.

I saw mine drop from 150+ to just 60 in the space of 2 miles when "making progress" once

Yes, the range varies with right wrist application.
A realistic range is about 180 miles until you get the LOW FUEL warning, and up to another 40 miles if you are feeling brave.
Yes, in the current weather she will feel quite hot. When it's hot I wear long boots and over-trousers as they insulate your legs from the heat. You can also block the rear of the fairing with foam pieces to reduce the heat a bit.
Hope you enjoy your new ride.

Welcome sir.

I've just come back from a round trip of France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany on mine and yes, it can get a bit warm around the lower limbs, especially in traffic.

The fuel gauge range indictor is a bit of an ornament I'm afraid, I think the problem is that the sample it uses as a basis to calculate from is too short / recent and then it starts making wild assumptions about the remainder of your ride. my best guess would be the same as Boomer at around 180 miles, but when the petrol pump symbol comes up it's time to pay attention.

I'm probably about 80 miles away from you but I frequently have a run to the south Cotswolds so if you fancy meeting up let me know and we can find each other half-way or something. There are 51mm risers fitted to my bike if you wanted to sit on it and get a feel for the difference. Drop me a PM if you want.

Pete.
