Hi all.
I'm Keith from North Manchester/Lancashire.
I've been riding Kawasakis for years (last one was a ZZR100) but I've had a few years off due to ill health.
Bitten the bullet and my 2009 GTR gets delivered next week.
Does anyone have any tips for me starting on this type of bike?

O.C.

The GTR is generally a reliable bike

Check that recalls have been done, Pannier attachment clips, Rear brake pedal should have some sort of shield to eliminate stones getting trapped between pedal and guard , I think there was another for headlight beam alignment but I can't fully be sure

Check the service history, enjoy the bike which is a bit heavy but will munch miles all day long

Welcome Keith  :185:  :185:
She is generally a pretty solid bike.
The front camshaft sensor weeps oil eventually.
The OEM brake discs can feel warped but they just need the grit hosing out of the bobbins with spray brake cleaner. Not needed for aftermarket discs.
Getting the ECU flashed cures the snatchy throttle.
Otherwise, just ask and we'll do our best to help.
I've had mine since Aug 2007 and she had 77k miles on her.

Hi Boomer, re the front camshaft sensor leaking oil, is this an easy fix?

Boomer

I've not done mine yet but the writeups and videos I've seen say it's pretty easy if done when you are doing the valve clearances and sparkplugs. It is between the exhaust headers and just needs to be unbolted, cleaned up, new over-sized o-ring fitted, and bolt it in again.
I don't know the o-ring size. I got mine from Michael Cox in the Facebook Concours 14/GTR1400 Enthusiasts group.
