Hi all!

I'm Stu from Central Scotland. Took delivery of my first GTR1400 last week. A 2016 model in slate blue. Panniers and top box too.

Already did a weekend trip down to West Yorkshire and I'm absolutely loving it.

Already done my own basic service with new oil, filter and final drive oil.

I do have one question though. Where can I locate the spare key fob? (as referenced on page 96 of the owner's manual). The bike came with only one main fob (page 83).

The manual doesn't say where the spare is located. There's conflicting info online, it's hidden somewhere in/on the bike? I suspect one of the previous owners has removed/lost the spare and I'll have to spend £300  on a new second/spare main fob.

Cheers,

Stu

Welcome along Stu, as you have already found out the GTR 1400 is indeed a very good bike, alas the bike is to heavy for my old bones these days, but I have owned a couple over the years

I think you will find that only the earlier GTRs had a spare fob, later models like yours have only one  (so don't lose it ! I did once and they are expensive to replace and need to be paired to your bike by a dealer

There should be a small flat fob which works as a temporary 'spare' when held against the headstock, its easy to lose or leave in a wallet...maybe you could try and contact the previous owner ?

Welcome Stu from soggy Essex 😁
As Colin said, the late model bikes came with one Fob (remote KIPASS + RFID key) and one credit card sized RFID only emergency key (CC key). If you were not given the CC key then someone out there can unlock your bike if they have it. Definitely contact the former owner but if they don't have it I'd go to a Kawi dealer and get a new CC key bought and programmed to the bike as your emergency spare. At the same time they can remove the old CC key from the ECU.
