Some of you may know because I've posted on the subject before, but I'd love to have a 4-2 system for my GTR, I do prefer the "balanced" look.

At the time I bought my bike there didn't seem to be anything about but I recently stumbled on this lot from Delkevic...

https://delkevic.co.uk/s/Kawasaki/GTR%201400/2016

Some are UK road legal, some are not, but the big issue for me is that none seem EU compliant and as I like to spend a couple of weeks every year on continental roads there could be complications.

It's probably another "Brexit Bonus" whereby the manufacturer can't afford the cost of going through two lots of type approval for their product so just focuses on the home market and loses any chance to export (sorry, political rant over  :hammer: )

That and the fact that I'm now retired and less able to afford bright and shiny things when there is the electric bill to pay means I probably can't or won't follow it through, but I'd be interested in everyone's thoughts...

Pete I completely agree with you about the unbalanced appearance of the standard exhaust set up on the GTR ....no matter how good the single pipe replacements are they still don't have that 'finished' appearance

For my money I would go with the Delkevic system which TBH isn't that much more expensive as some single pipe options, in fact it's not as expensive as, say, an Akrapovic pipe

FWIW I reckon you should fit a twin pipe system...

Don't forget to post some pictures when its done

The only possible complication could be in Germany, as they seem fussy about aftermarket stuff.  Don't think you'd have a problem anywhere else

I'll nip out this weekend and buy a scratch card, if I win anything more than 500 quid I'll get on with it

I'm inclined to agree with you, having ridden through about 15 countries no one has ever shown any official interest in what is on my bike or my paperwork. I suspect that anything noisy is more likely to attract investigation.

I'm 99% certain I could do a trip without any problems, it's just that "what if" and some jobsworth says I can go no further until a conforming system is fitted. OK, I could retain the original system and refit it prior to going abroad but I don't think I would stand the hassle.

Do you not have to remove the centre stand if you wish to have the dual pipe option? Surely the practicality of have a centre stand far outweighs a cosmetic look?

Quote from: Daisy on February 13, 2023, 11:42:37 PMIt is possible to fit the system from a ZX/ZZR1400 which would have the required markings, but not sound as good.
Mine has a pair of Delkevics on a ZX14 header.

Interesting - do you have a photo you can share?

I was also going to ask the centre stand question so thanks for answering that.

Did you also use a ZZR hanger for this additional pipe or did you have to get creative?

Quote from: Daisy on February 15, 2023, 11:47:05 PMThe ZZR hangers are completely different. I took the GTR pair to a welder and had him tig a matching tube onto the left one. The centre stand we just stuck the foot from an old one we had lying around (ZZR1100 probably) and that was purely because it was there and only required one weld.
I also put a drop link on the hanger so the cans weren't so close to the underside of the panniers.

Here's a picture from last time it was apart. I was adding traction control.

and a closer one of the drop link.

Thanks for that -looks like a little bit of work involved then.

Whilst I like the idea the money and effort may be a bit too much for me.

You are fine riding anywhere in the EU and most other places too. The parts fitted to your bike/car only have to be legal where the vehicle is registered.
Of course if it's too loud or dangerous you'll get busted.
