Hi, I'm after some advice please. I wish to install a lead for heated clothing, where is the best place to take the power from that will be able to handle the required current?

Tynesidebob

How much current do you need?

Ianonortheast

I think they require 5amps but will need to check with the manufacturer

You need a fuse distribution block....this one is expensive...others are available on fleabay

You will then be able to safely connect a number of devices without any issues

Thanks, I take it therefore that I would need to lift the tank to run a positive and negative wire from the battery to the distribution block?

I think you will be able to 'thread a couple of cables directly from the battery to power the fuse block without any need to remove or lift the tank, I have done this in the past...it can be a bit fiddly but is possible

If I remember correctly there may well be a switched feed from within the Black rubber cup which is located behind the front left fairing...these leads are short and will probably need lengthening, the positive lead has a plastic sheath at the end and the negative is an unsheathed male 'bullet' type plug

I've been trying to find some pictures to help but am struggling

I hope that this helps

I have found these two pictures which may help.... the first shows the switched power leads and the second the routing of the power cables

There are 2 at the front in the rubber wiring boot under storage box on the left bullet connectors positive and negative these are powered with the ignition ( I wired my satnav into mine ) there are 2 more at the rear under the toolbox which you could run from the same as the front ignition powered. As pictures OC posted
