I have had my GTR1400 for over 10 years. I loved every minute riding it.
But in 2020 i married again and she enjoy riding pillion. After a 3 week ride to Nordkapp in Norway i started looking to the dark side. I needed more luggage capasity. So in april 2022 i bought a new R1250GSA. Mostly because it had 3 shipping-containers strapped to the back. I truly hated the panniers on The GTR. Its the only thing i did not like on that bike. Evry time i needed something half of crap inside would fall out.
The panniers on th eGS is a lot more practical. Also the wife is more comfy on the back and she stopped complaining about backpain when riding on bumpy roads.
My financial situation would not let me keep both bike so i let it go. I hope it have found a good home.

At the moment im very happy with the GS. It is not as fast, but i love the tourque and all my new toys, like cruisecontroll.
If my ex-wife did not leave me in 2016 i would still had my GRT, so i blame her!

Johnny, the venerable GTR is an outstanding  bike and one that I, and many others have enjoyed for years.....however its basic design is now dated, that fact doesn't make it bad..... just somewhat outdated.

I understand your frustration with the GTRs panniers, especially when compared to those on a R1250 GS which are, by comparison,  capacious.

I, until September 2022, owned an BMW R 1250 GS, which is an amazing bike and extremely enjoyable to ride, I'm so glad I owned it but,  due to health conditions, had to exchange it for a lighter bike that I  can manage.

Good luck with your new bike (and wife) I'm sure you will enjoy them both !

Johnny, the GSA is a decent bike, if only it wasn't so expensive and so bloody heavy!

I sold my GSA 1250 in March 2022 after 18 months of ownership to a none BMW dealership and still managed to get almost exactly what I paid for it previously.

It was my 3rd GSA but I found them too heavy so switched to the best bike on the planet and so far have no regrets.  :mfr_lol:
