I've just got sigtht of something I wasn't aware of and I'm in a rush now before I get caught out.

It seems that all vehicles travelling in France now are recommended to display a Crit'Air vignette, this is a permaent requirement in three cities but clean air zones can pop up on a temporary basis anywhere, anytime and if you are caught in one without the sticker you are in for a fine.

It's not expensive to get hold of one (although I am tight for time) but the online form is asking me which EURO STANDARD applies and I can't see it anywhere on my V5.

My bike is a 2016 model. Does anyone on here know with certainty?

A quick reply would be much apprecaited.

The GTR1400 is EURO 3 for emissions.
Only needed if you are going to one of the restricted cities.

Cheers George.

Trying to match the emissions recorded on my V5 against the standards document I found I reckoned it was Euro 4 and I put that on my application last night so there is a danger it may "bounce".

My trip includes 4 nights on the edge of Nice so there is a chance I may get caught up in it.

Hi Pete,
You shouldn't need it for Nice but may for Lyon if you go through the centre.
Yes it may get rejected if you put Euro4.  :stuart:
The GTR1400 got dropped because it couldn't meet Euro4 emissions.
The 1441cc ZZR1400 is about to be dropped because it can't meet Euro5.
The Euro numbers are different for motorcycles, petrol cars and diesel cars.
The system is quite complex and a PITA, but without it we'd all be riding around in smog.

I did get an e-mail from the authorities with a receipt and confirmation that my vignette has been posted so it looks like I have got away with it, it's just a question now of weather it turns up in the post from France. The e-mail also included as a PDF with a QR code which I think I can produce if all else fails.

We have to be a bit careful about what the RAC list as it is not always up to date and they can introduce temporary controls at short notice. Looking at this (link below) I still think that the Nice metropolitain area is included at the moment:

Thanks again for you input.

Pete.
