On Monday 2nd May 2022 you are all invited to join Nigel, (Rusty) & I at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, DE13 7AR. Entry is free, currently pre-booking is essential although this may change by May.

We are staying at the Premier Inn, Lichfield North East on the A38, WS13 8RD. Prices for overnight accommodation are currently ranging from £37, pay now, no cancellation option to £59 pay on arrival, with cancellation options.

The plan is simple, meet at the National Memorial Arboretum https://www.thenma.org.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAoNWOBhCwARIsAAiHnEj7NaMqOcg8j6_-KWyTO6vFAmW73UGzfbNexxMvBwt-s3XCEz7fJG4aAshGEALw_wcB on the 2nd at a time yet to be confirmed, have a look around for as long as you desire and then meet up at the Premier Inn for a meal, drinks & a long overdue catch up with everyone.

On Tuesday 3rd May we are then going to visit the nearby Staffordshire Regiment Museum, WS14 9PY
https://staffordshireregimentmuseum.com before each going our separate ways. There is of course no obligation to either stay over at the Premier Inn, nor visit the Staffordshire Regiment Museum. It just makes sense whilst in this area to visit both locations.

I'm not currently sure about any entrance fees or pre-booking requirements at the Staffordshire Regiment Museum but I shall make enquiries and update this thread accordingly.

If you fancy attending leave a comment down below and I'll keep you updated as we get closer to the date.

ooops, got my dates wrong (it happens when you are confused, like me )   :mfr_lol:

We are away in a lovely Dumfries & Galloway cottage from the 13th May, so I am now able to join this meeting

Great idea - and like Nigel says a great opportunity to catch up again, .....the last time some of us met was in Scotland last year.

I'm really looking forward to this meeting now....roll on May

It would be great to meet up again with all of you, unfortunately from where I live it is a sh1t ride, there is no pleasant way of getting between Stourbridge and Alrewas  :undecided:

I'll keep an eye on the situation nearer the date, as I say it would be nice to meet up but I'm not sure if it is worth getting wet on a motorway hop or crawl through Birmingham if the weather is set against us.

I've pre-booked the Sun and requested somewhere between 20 & 23 degrees.

Thanks for taking the trouble with the weather, now is there anything you can do with the scenery?

A nice mountain range near West Bromwich (I'd settle for a hillock), a meandering river alonside the A38 in Aston and a bit of forest just south of Tamworth would be nice  :biker3:

Hi folks,
done the staffordshire military aboretum many a time, being ex military, it's a must go to place. Unfortunately/maybe not, I'll be enjoying (covid willing) the delights of Spain and Potugul again in May - June, and I can't bloody wait!! Enjoy your trip and I hope the rain gods are kind to you, but I'm not giving up the sun for a rainy day in Staffordshire
bike too tall, lower it, eat cake
