Well guys, it's been an experience,  I underwent my total hip replacement  on December 7th at the Spire Fylde Hospital and have been recovering since then

Pain during recovery  is part of the procedure which is to be expected and I have experienced some of that

My recovery began with moving around with the aid of a walking frame, progressing onto crutches, then walking sticks and now just a single walking stick.....TBH I'm a bit fed up now but need to be patient as it will take time. I'm currently able to walk a few steps without the aid of a stick, (some days are better than others) it'll be a while longer before I'm back on two wheels, my consultant says I should be 100% by summertime !  I was hoping for a quicker recovery rate, but time and patience ( I'm  not known  for being patient) will tell

So there you have it

I think our instinct is usually a good guide to how far we can push ourselves.

The danger is doing 40 miles and feeling sure you can manage another 10 but forgetting it is then another 50 to get beack home!

Take it steady, a bit at a time...

we ended up walking the streets of Carlisle yesterday looking for a certain shop.....we didn't find it after walking miles. The upside  was enjoying a large Chocolate  drink in Hotel Chocolate   .....mmmmmmm, loverly

The point of this story is that after all that trudging around I have actually had a better day today and feel a little more normal (as long as my stick is within reach)    :mfr_lol:

Is it not the case that everyone should carry a stick when in Carlisle anyway?  :whistling:
