would you consider 32,000 miles on a 12 plate GTR 1400 as high mileage, a pal of mine think's it's time to get rid, i beg to differ, it make's me smile every time i get on it.all the time i can manage the WEIGHT of it, it's not going anywhere.

That is nothing for these bikes. But saying that I have done it in the past when the big service was due.
I put the grand towards a newer lower mileage one happy days now on my 3rd one 👌

it had the valve service at 24K plus a full service and new tyre's, it was nearly £1,000, i can't see me getting rid of it.

I think if I'd owned it from new and therefore knew how it had been ridden and looked after that milage would not worry me at all.

But I'm not so sure I'd be in the queue for a second-hand bike with that milage on...

On the owner's form for the the GSX I regularly come accross people with bikes nudging 100k miles, but that is a much different lower revving engine. My own GSX has done 38k and I would have no hesitation on taking it on another long Europen trip, it was just the lack of fairing protection and faffing with a chain that drew me to having a GTR alongside it.

If you are worried about depreciation, perhaps you shouldn't buy a motorcycle as almost all of them depreciate for their first 25 years, at least.

In terms of reliability, a 2007 and later bike is easily capable of silly mileages. Some older bikes were worn out after 30k miles but the C14 has only just had it's first valve adjustment at that mileage. I know of 3 US riders with over 200k miles on theirs (2x 2008 and 1x 2017) and many many more with over 100k miles. Mine has 75k miles and rides better now than when it was new.

Would I buy a 100k mile used bike? Yes if it was cheap enough and had the prospect of getting another 100k under its belt. I'd check it over with a fine toothed comb though. I did buy an 82k mile 1989 GTR1000 in 2000 and the engine made it another 100k before needing a top end rebuild (new rings and valves lapped).
