i pulled the gtr out of my bike shed, switched the ignition on & it was reading 11.2 volt's then after starting it after a short period of time it read 14.2volts on the display screen, due to the current time's it's had little use over the past few month's, it's on a 12 plate so it's 9 years old, maybe it's time to look at a new replacement battery, would you go for the OEM one which is already fitted or would you go for another brand of battery.

Motobatt AGM batteries are excellent.
Absorbed Glass Mat batteries have much lower self discharge than others and give much higher currents for starting. They can also take higher charging current if you are in a hurry.
There is also nothing to spill out and corrode the frame if the bike falls over.

Also have a choice of terminals, leaving spares for accessories take offs

After 9 years your battery may well be showing it's age

Any doubts, replace it with a new'un

I can't advise on which battery to go for as I've never had to replace one, but the advice already given will be very good I'm sure

I've used Motobatt on the old bikes for years, with great success.

+1 for MotoBatt. My OEM battery lasted nearly 9 years. MotoBatt for the 5 years since then. When parked in the garage it's plugged into an Accumate.
