Just three weeks to go now and I've settled the bill for my room in advance, so it's getting real.

I've not attended a meet where so many others have been present before – is the expectation that everyone will do their own thing in terms of rides out etc.? I'm just conscious that this "rule of six" thing may still be hanging over us and that a larger group of bikes may encourage a tug from the local constabulary if noticed.

Or do we simply get up there and make it up as we go along...

The Tyndrum Inn (just up the road from the Lodges and Ben Doran Hotel) provided Steve and I with good evening meals last year but I can't recall that they had that much external seating if this is a requirement in Scotland - it certainly got busy inside so we may need to think about reserving a couple of tables (for no more than six people!) for the following day if that is where most of us should want to meet up or eat on an evening.

Re the above.

Generally what happens is that some folk will want to explore on their own and more importantly at their own pace, we also normally get a 'group' who fancy going out collectively and some folk who are simply content to stay at the digs and chill out reading a book and having a pint/coffee. These meetings are very informal and no one is pressured into doing anything they feel uncomfortable with. Whilst it is a group event, it is also YOUR weekend away and I want everyone to enjoy themselves and do what pleases them and come away with some fantastic memories of the event.

From past experience, the evenings are when the majority get together for a bite to eat and a chat about their daily adventures. I shall contact the Tyndrum Inn and see what the rules are regarding booking tables, numbers etc, etc and update this thread accordingly.

****What is important is that we have no accidents, no injuries and no damaged bikes! It may be quite busy in the area we are staying at. There will most likely be a few foreign tourists in hire cars which can lead to some interesting incidents.

One year when Nigel & I visited Scotland, twice in one day we had a German plated coach approaching us, head on, on our side of the road. In 2019 when I visited Scotland I witnessed three accidents in two days when overseas visitors forgot what side of the road they should be driving on and collided with other vehicles. The worst incident was a local heavily pregnant lady who had to swerve to avoid an error of judgement from an oncoming vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road and she ended up going down a steep embankment.

It is not uncommon for motorists to stop without warning to take a photo through their window or for motorists not to appreciate how narrow single track roads are and try to squeeze their mobile home past you between passing places! It all adds to the excitement!!  :mfr_lol:

I remember the coach Steve    He was completely unaware !! Hard to forget that one.

Steve is spot on as always .. it really is an easy few days .. if you want to ride out then ride.. stay in and read a book and chill ?? Do that, no one is bothered as long as we all enjoy ourselves that is the main point. Catch up with a pint in the evening talk shit have a laugh and make new friends..

I have a masters degree in shit talking   :mfr_lol:

Right chaps, I have spoken with the Tyndrum Inn which is a very short walk from Tyndrum Lodges and the Mutha Ben Doran Hotel.

They have confirmed that they have tables inside and out front for diners and they believe that by the 20th May the restrictions are expected to have been lifted which will enable us to eat inside as a group if we wish to do so rather than being required to sit outside.

They suspect that groups may be limited to a dozen so that should work well for us. However we will have to book a table each night so considering this is the only pub in the village I recommend that that is what we do. Last year when Pete and I attended in July after the restrictions had been lifted, the pub was rammed.

Let me know if you intend to eat at the pub please and I shall provisionally book the table/s. There are other places to eat in the village if they are open, burger places but the pub will provide a more welcoming venue probably.

Hi Steve put me down please.
A nice sit down meal on the evening sounds perfect.
I hope there's another 11 who like me to sit with 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
