just wondering what make of ear plugs do you guys use? when I had my gtr1400 wind was not a problem.. but now finding the wind noise causing me lot's of grief :hammer: most likely as my z900rs cafe as little or no protection from wind blast.. I've already replaced the screen to a double bubble which as improved wind slightly but still getting to much wind blast. been using the boots soft gel ear plugs which I've found better than the cheapies that you can buy. now it's time to invest in a decent ear plugs before I go Mutt 'n' Jeff...  any recommendations on what's the best to buy?

thinking of going down the bespoke route and getting them professionally made for my lug holes.. but before I do are there any you can buy that are just as good.
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Dave what I would do and this is not a joke is have a word with some of your colleagues who work on the ARV's. Their ear protection plugs are better than what you can buy in the shops and of course you won't have to pay for them! Its a win, win situation for a lad who likes to shop at ASDA!  :mfr_lol:

:agree:

You could also consider 'musicians' bespoke plugs, ( I can't remember the name /make) but they will be very good.... but more costly

That's where I got mine, still use them, very good custom fit and mine are quite old now.
XJ600, VFR800, CBR1100, Varadero1000, CBR1100, STX1300, GTR1400 ?

Exactly, you see the Police do have an occasional use!  :mfr_lol:

Nitty Gritty

Max Lite from Howard Leight by Honeywell, green foam, get them by the hundreds to a box for a tenner or so. For me, I cut about an eighth to a quarter of an inch off the pointed end so they don't decend too far down my ear canal. I've had all sorts over the years from expensive tailor mades with valves in, to many other reusables. For long trips, riding all day, every day, day after day. These are head and shoulders above every other make I've tried. All day comfort, no tenderness at the end of the day, chuck'em away, no risk of inffections.
bike too tall, lower it, eat cake

I've been using these

Mould your own. Really good.

Nitty Gritty has it bang on .. I do exactly the same ... snip the end off for a snug fit .. I have a box off 200 of the yellow and orange Max Lights and seem to have acquired a few from my ARV days too ! If I'm on a trip then I tend to change them every day if not as and when. They are excellent with no side effects and dirt cheap. Try them.

For me it is a good option. I can speak thru intercom, hear music etc.

Did you make a decision about some plugs yet Dave  ?

I just got some plugs from Alpine
Comfortable and effective.

Moogus

As I'm now in the market for some earplugs...do the cheaper, snip the end off, throwaway variety still allow the wearer to hear the intercom?

I see the more expensive Alpine product allows continued intercom use. Haven't used earplugs since my patrolling days in the eighties and early nineties, and even then only had one in my right ear so I could hear the force radio 😳
