How to use bungee straps

Hi All

Doe's anybody have any suggestions on how i can strap a tent, sleeping bag etc onto the GTR without scratching the rack using bungee straps as there is no hook provision to secure to.

I used to use a pair of Rocstraps, attached to the grabrails and sort of crossing over the tent.  Works well and they won't scratch the paintwork
