I've had more than my share of Classic bikes,  :innocent:

Classic Bikes are worth what someone want's to pay in order to re-live their youth or just make an investment for the future

I daren't tell you what some of mine cost, but will say that I was more than 'happy' with the price I got for them when I sold them

Oh BTW, I'm also a Tight Yorkshire Git.... but I know a good deal when I see one :mfr_lol:

 :agree:

Rog is not wrong, some classics are worth a fortune nowadays, like the 550/4 I went to see, absolutely mint condition.

And Rog is correct again when he says he is a tight Yorkshire git, I have seen him pull the clutch in going downhill to save fuel.

A true Yorkshire man would take the headlight bulbs out of their bike during the day to preserve their life.

The classic scene is a real challenge in terms of understanding values. For instance, the Honda CB550/4 is supposed to be a far better bike to ride than the CB500/4 (of which I've owned three) however the value of a 550 is only around 60% of the value of a 500.

With the CB750, the early models (these are quite maintenance intensive and lower gearing together with noisier exhausts make them more tiring to ride) sell for around twice the value of the more numerous K2 model, such as mine.

Equally, any American import will command far less money than a UK bike, although they are often in better condition for their age.

However, get it right and you can enjoy a classic whilst watching it appreciate in value, insure it for pennies and, if it is well cared for, have a waiting queue of buyers if you want to turn it back into cash at any time!
