I took the cheap route. MOT in Northern Ireland is different to rest of UK. It's done here by DVLA, not a garage. They're all closed until 22 June at the earliest. So here you'll get an exemption but only if you apply, get a date and THEY cancel that date.

GTR MOT expired Feb so I applied the day before lockdown and got 1 April. Shortly after, exemption came through to 1 October.

Earliest date  I could get for Blackbird (MOT expired last Oct, bike SORN) was 18 April now due 23 October.

In both cases I paid the £22 fee which was refunded.

My car was due 22 June, now due 22 October.

No idea why the length of the exemption period on the 3 vehicles differs.

That's correct,, they seem to be allowing 4 months exemption for cars and 6 months for bikes ...a couple of mates have booked their bikes in, paid  and then been refunded with an exemption

My ZRX is on SORN and the Versys isn't old enough for an MOT yet, my car is due in December by which time I imagine Ballymena MOT station  may be open for business

If you're thinking of using the ZRX at all over the summer, apply now online. Pick any MOT station in NI that gives you the earliest date ( before 22 June) , knowing you won't have to go there (mate said Larne good choice). Pay the fee and keep checking the DVLA website for a couple of weeks after that date until it shows a new MOT expiry date. You'll get your fee back so free MOT for the summer for your ZRX. SORN easily removed if required. Bike must be roadworthy but I'll be shocked if it isn't already
