Hey !!!!  Why would a shandy drinking southerner like me take the piss out of anyone wearing pink armbands ??

In my world I have to be diverse, understanding, all embracing, overarching, underarching, community loving, totally impartial, and hate anyone who would create a hostile environment to anyone who was in the slightest any bit different to you or I  ;D ;D ;D

Pink armbands ??? Bring em on !!!!

Kwikasfuki

Count me in as well. So four of us trekking up tomorrow

Ok thanx for that I will try me best and get there for nine. It takes about an hour from mine to Appleyards so I will set off in good time although it should be quiet on a sunday morning.
If your there first mine is a coffee no sugar
cheers Sidders :)

Lonewolf

Looking forward to this. I bet its heaving up at the cafe. Just watch out for the high Police presence, they wont tolerate any tom foolery or crazy antics from riders.

Hope you guys made it back ok. Sorry, just had to start making good progress  ;D

Geoff, was great following you and taking a blast at those corners. Half regretting not coming back on the same route.

Yes thanks for that Mr Bates got home safe and sound, I enjoyed riding with you, great weather, fantastic scenery, lots of swoopy roads, good company, really good day out. Must go now I need to wash some dead flies off the (Pink) arm bands ::)   cheers Geoff  ;D

What a day, things almost got off to a bad start when I wheeled the GTR out of the garage, pressed the ignition and it just spluttered, slowly churning the motor over with me thinking, Sh*t! not a great start and then thankfully it fired into life without any further problems at all during the day. Its never done that before so it was a bit unnerving, its always fired on the first press so it looks like I might be requiring a new battery sooner rather than later.

Anyway I digress, back to the point, firstly I met up with NB at Hein Gericke in Bradford at 8:30 before setting out on the short ride to Keighley some twelve or so miles away. The weather looked promising but after the previous weekends appaling weather which consisted of terrential rain from start to finish I wasn't taking anything for granted. In hindsight however I needn't have worried. NB and I arrived at McDonalds at Keighley where Paul (Sidders) was waiting for us, introductions all round and then I set off leading out to Devils Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale to meet Geoff (100milesaway).

I think it was just after 10am when the three of us arrived at the bridge to be confronted with wall to wall bikes. NB got talking to a group of riders who I believe they said they had come from Rochdale area, all of them on 125cc's  :o

More introductions.... Geoff on the left with those pink armbands,  ::)

and Paul on the right.

NB having a chat with some fellowbikers....

A typical turn out at Devils Bridge.

Paul's steed.

From Kirkby Lonsdale, Geoff took the lead, guiding us through many small villages and up towards our final destination. In a blink of an eye Geoff and NB were away and couldn't even be seen on the horizon. Thankfully they stopped here and there to give us an opportunity to catch up. He might wear pink armbands but he can certainly push the GTR when he wants to!  ;D

After a short stint still heading up towards the Summit Cafe we all stopped for a leg stretch by the side of the road, I said to NB, "How fast were you going through that village where the speed camera van was?" Back came that classic retort...."What speed camera van?"

www.specsavers.co.uk ;D ;D

We all eventually arrived at Hartside Summit to a jammed car park full of bikes which we picked our way through and got parked up.

The staff at the Cafe had laid on a BBQ for the attendees.

There were plenty of bikes to choose from to take for a test ride but as could be expected the waiting list for some of the 'better' bikes was quite lengthy.

For any Northerners who haven't been upto Hartside Summit yet put it on your list of things to do. Beautiful location and stunning views and scenery.

Geoff's GTR, looking very cool in green. Just get those panniers on it!!

Discussing the GTR's?

NB's GTR. (One day he will wash it).  ;D

A few random shots of 'other' bikes just to be fair. ::)

A strong Police presence as predicted.

A great day out, and I thank Geoff for making us aware of this otherwise I would probably have been at home doing some chores the wife would have have found for me.  ;D Great to have met up with Paul also and hopefully we can get out again at some point.

Hope you enjoyed the photos and write up.
;D

Those Asian lads :D They were from Nelson. Kept on calling it a Crapasaki. Not that he could talk being on an Aprilia.

Yeah my bike is dirty and Paul's was showroom clean. Made me feel all dirty.  :D

Thought I had spotted Jenny Tinmouth, was about to ask for a photo. LW accused me of trying to chat her up. Mrs Bates would not be impressed.

The route was awesome. I'm planning on doing it again someday, maybe with a few more scenic stops. Geoff really threw his bike around the corners. Thankfully the pink didn't affect his bike performance.
