i decided to replace my brake pad's last friday, with EBC sintered pad's, the OEM pad's had done 30K mile's, there was still a good amount of lining left on them,as you all know the bike has linked brake's the nearside front had more wear than the other's, i noticed a stone drop out of the rear pad's while removing them,WOW,what a difference,it's nice to have better brake's than i had before, they need bedding in now.i applied the rear & it's so much sharper than before.

Good to hear! Wasn't there a brake recall some time ago to prevent stones from entering the rear brake assembly,  or did i just dream that lol.

I think that recall was to do with the rear brake pedal assembly, but I might be wrong, here

Blimey 30k, are you solo or 2 up?
We're off to Italy next week and I judged there was probably only 1500 miles left on the rear tyre (Michelin 5).
I checked the bearings, brakes etc when I removed the wheel to take to the tyre fitters (£168 fitted @ Protyre ) and found 1-2 mm of pad left.
I then of course checked the front pads and found they too needed immediate replacement.

I have never gone through a set of pads so quickly (12500 miles) on any bike I've owned, I would certainly have replaced them earlier had I known how thin they were and have made a note on my service schedule to check again after another 10k miles.

I have no performance issues with original eqpt pads and they haven't cut tracks into the discs either so I ordered new fronts & rear from Cradley Heath Kawasaki (£154 promptly delivered).
I did look at EBC as I think they are top quality but they do seem to cut into the disc. In 36k miles on my last Moto Guzzi I went through two sets of front discs using EBC's. The first ones may well have been due to the shite quality of some of the parts used by MG.
Ciao baby!

i checked my service history & the front/rear pad's were replaced at 15,000 mile's, so i'm not that light footed.

We managed 23000 miles on original front pads then changed to EBC. Rear pads are due now at 30000 miles. 2009 model which has had the brake recall done to stop stones getting trapped behind the pedal/master cylinder. Almost always 2 up and fully loaded.
