Any recommendations for breakdown/ recovery service. I think AA and RAC are very expensive.have been using Autoaid but they are creeping up now too.

green flag are advertising a 50% reduction on any rac or aa renewal  quote , go to the green flag website for info ,the rc have just offered me 15 months for £54.99 , online I have had quotes for as little as £16.00 for a year, but after checking some of the reviews the service sounds crap. I would prefer to be with rac  , aa  ,or green flag ,  at least these will turn up if you need them

Until last year I had no idea that personal membership gave you cover on bikes or cars or buses etc, whatever you happened to be riding or driving.

I have a personal policy now that covers both my wifes and my car, and when I'm on the bike.

Currently RAC cover, does everything I need.

Cost me around £100 per year fully covered, relay, breakdown, any car/bike irrespective of whether I'm driving or not.

£100 is cheap for piece of mind.

Tons of companies doing decent cash back offers too..

My RAC renewal came around recently.

Shopping around as I do, I found the biggest issue I had (I have myself and my wife on the same policy for anything we ride, drive or are a passenger in be that a non commercial truck or bus or just a scooter) was that for our cars they had to be less than 10 years old, most wouldn't touch me, my Quattro is now 12 years old, its perfectly maintained.  Green flag wanted my first born, AA was laughable, RAC went up a tenner so ended up keeping them.

If you have a car that ageing then it might be worth hanging on to what you have if you have similar cover requirements as me.

I use autoaid I find that to be the cheapest. Works like insurance you pay for breakdown and then claim it back from them.

I'll consider them at renewal time next year.

My biggest gripe with AA & RAC is that they ratchet up the price every year by too much.
I used to have RAC and after going from £120 to £230 in 3 years with no claims, I decided to drop them.
Now I have full European personal breakdown cover with no vehicle age limits via my bank account (Nationwide).
Costs me £13 per month and also includes mulri-trip World travel insurance.
Pretty good for £156 per year.

had my renewal in from Kawasaki £70.00 including a discount (so they say !) through rac, seen the green flag offer but ended up in a row as the discount they give is a bit complicated depending on the original policy you last had , anyway went to rac never mentioned my previous year with the Kawasaki breakdown cover , little bit haggling got 15 months personal cover which not only covers me for my bike but any vehicle I am in (not commercial ) £43.72 happy

Keith that just goes to show that these companies can be a bit flexible with their quotes when they want to be!
