I know it's very subjective, condition of bike etc, etc. But I have been offered £5700 in part ex for a new ZZR14.
My GTR has 19500 miles, registered in 2011, 2 owner's me being one of them, full service history (Not all with main dealer), and can be returned to standard apart from the custom seat and spotlight's mounted under wing mirror's. Just MOT'd, fairly new tyres and is in very good condition in dark blue.
Good offer or go private, thought's.

Firstly, I wouldn't sell privately, but that's a personal observation, in my view it can open up to all sorts of possibilities which I'm sure we are all aware of. e.g potential purchasers turning up at inconvenient times, wanting test rides, and potential thieves finding out where you bike is and your security arrangements

Secondly, I think the price that you have been offered is perhaps a little on the low side, however there are similar bikes out there for sale at not much more money than you have been offered, so maybe his offer isn't too bad.

Remember a dealer has to re-sell your bike after servicing and checking it over plus he will have to place a warranty on the bike, and finally any dealer has overheads and costs to meet so he has to consider that out of any profit he wants/needs to make.

Any P/X allowance will also be based on that dealers current stock position....i.e has he already got a GTR 1400 up for sale  and maybe he would only want another of it's saleable or is his overall stock sitting at a high level in which case he may offer you less.

Also how much margin has he got in the bike that you are purchasing, is it an older stock/model/pre-registered bike which may have a bigger profit margin in it

Overall if it was me I would always try and improve the deal, but I don't honestly think you are 'too far away' now.

Good luck and maybe enjoy your ZZR 1400....phew, they are faaaaaaast.

The offer is a little on the low side, try and push for more but if they will not budge ask what goodies they can offer on the New one to make up some difference, maybe lower the price of the new one.
get a grip and deal with it

Thank's for the replies, I'm dabbling at the moment, torn between the two, I've been here before with my Blackbird and on reflection wished I hadn't sold it, so no rushing into it this time.
I'll only part with her if we decide we are not touring 2 up anymore.

Unlike OC, I would always sell privately. You will get the additional money that would otherwise go into the pockets of the dealership which will then go toward your new bike and or equipment. In my experience, Gumtree has always been a good place to sell. You have a starting point for the value of your bike; in my humble opinion you could probably add £1000. I'm sure others will be able to advise.

I agree with Rob, sell it privately and you could potentially be looking at an extra £1000 approx. On the other hand you trade in, you are obviously always going to get a much lower price but it will be hassle free.

Personally £5700 for an 11 plate bike isn't too bad. The mileage is irrelevant, its the age of the bike.

   :ohplease:

The three key factors determining the value of a bike or car are, Age, Condition, and Mileage...which is why well presented/maintained lower mileage used bikes or cars are generally more desirable and therefore higher value in a dealers showroom

Good luck with your sale whichever route you choose to take

I'm not sure what the   &  :ohplease:  are for, a balanced argument for each choice has been presented as requested in line with the requests for our thoughts.
